Popping The Question
Chapter 40
Maui's POV
Two weeks later...
I've been planning this in my mind for two months now, but I finally was able to completely gather all of the resources that I needed to do so a few days ago. By the way, my plan consists of proposing to Tama in a way that's going to sweep him off his feet. Moana's in on the plan. She's helping me distract Tama for the day while I get everything in order. My plan goes a little something like this: I'm going to set up a trail of flower petals through the village in hopes that Tama will follow them. I have no doubt in my mind that he won't follow them. The flower petals will then lead to a secluded area on the shore where light music will be playing in the background. I'll be standing by the person playing music, which ironically is Moana on the ukulele. She happens to be very musical. I also really wanted her to be a part of this and I'm glad that she is. Next to Moana, I'll be standing there waiting for Tama with the ring in hand.
At sunset...
The plan is officially under way. Slowly but surely, Tama makes his way over to me. He picks up the flower petals one by one until he has all of them and looks up at me in shock, confusion, and love. "M-Maui, what's going on here?" I grab his hands in mine. "For all my life, I've been trying to search for that special person who gets me like no one else can. Moana gets me of course, but you get in me like no one else does. You understand what it's like to be portrayed as a villain in society, but one who received a second chance and worked well like hell to prove himself. Very few people like us come out on top. Most just let the darkness consume them and call it a day. More than that, you're my soulmate, my true love, and my other half. I can't imagine my life without you in that."
I bend down and take a shaky breath. "With all of that being said, will you Tamatoa, the amazing almighty crab crakes, marry me?" Tama looks at me with tears in his eyes and gives me the most breathtaking smile before throwing himself into my arms. "Yes Maui, I will marry you!" As he stays in my arms, I feel a tear slip out, but I don't bother to wipe it away because it's not a tear of sadness, but rather a tear of joy. I'm finally getting the happy ending I've been dreaming about for three thousand years.
