Chapter 80

Tamatoa's POV

A month later... The gender reveal of the baby...

   Today's the big day of the gender reveal. Now during a typical mortal pregnancy, they don't find out the gender of the baby until they are four months along, but Moana being what she is, she finds out after a month. We're so excited. Maui hopes that we have a boy but I'm secretly rooting for a girl. It'd be pretty funny if we were having both. I could just see the look of shock on Maui's face now. I help Mo out of bed and freshen up so that we can head to the doctor's hut. "So Mo, how are you feeling?" She gives me a tired smile. "Tired but other than that I'm okay. I didn't get much sleep last night so I plan on catching up on my sleep tonight. How are you and Maui?" I smile widely. "We're good. Maui's more nervous than I am, but we're both super excited to find out the gender of the baby." 

      Mo clasps her hands over mine. "I'm so happy for you guys. You two deserve to have a beautiful and healthy child more than anyone else in this world." I wipe a tear that slips out away. "Thank you Mo. This means everything to us. You're giving us a child. There's nothing we can ever do that will be good enough to repay you." "You don't owe me anything Tama and neither does Maui. Let's just find out the gender of the baby already. The suspense is eating me alive." I chuckle and lead her and Maui to the doctor's hut. It's only about a ten minute walk there. When we do get there, Mo collapses onto a patient bed and the doctor immediately begins checking her out. I take it that she's been expecting Mo's arrival. She does a few tests before grinning at Mo, Maui, and I. "So I have some unexpected but good news for you three." I raise an eyebrow at her. "And just what would that be?" The doctor claps her hands together and shouts "You're having twins! A boy and a girl to be exact." 

    Moana looks at the doctor stunned, Maui looks like he's about to faint, and I'm jumping up and down for joy. Needless to say, there are some mixed reactions to the news. Mo is the first one to speak. "That is definitely unexpected, but it will make these guys over here very happy. Tama was hoping for a girl and Maui was hoping for a boy so now they will have one of each. It couldn't have worked out better if you asked me. Are they healthy?" The doctor nods. "Indeed they are. Congratulations to the three of you. I'll see you all back here in a month's time for another checkup. Until then, relax and celebrate." We all give her a smile and say our goodbyes before heading back to fulfill some daily duties. Despite a celebration, the work never ceases to come to an end.
