My Baby Has A Cold

Chapter 29

Maui's POV

 A few days later...

  Tama caught an awful cold so he's restricted to bed rest right now. He keeps grumbling about how badly he wants to go outside, but I'm not falling for it. The reason I'm not falling for it is that I know he's going to run away from me at full speed and it'll be too late to catch him and bring him back inside. I opened the windows of the hut as wide as possible so he can feel the breeze. Now I know what you're thinking, how on Earth can Tama get sick? Well guess what, even the immortal can get sick too. I know I have horrible luck when it comes to catching colds. 

  Tama keeps pouting at me and I chuckle. "As charming as your good looks and personality are Tama, I'm not allowing you to go outside today. You need to build up your strength by resting, which you've barely done any of. Will you please try and sleep?" He rolls his eyes and sighs. "Finnnneeeee dad, I'll try and sleep." I flinch at his comment. Tama frowns when he sees my discomfort. "I'm sorry Maui. That was uncalled for." I smile at him. "It's okay Tama. I know you were just joking around. I just wish I wasn't so sensitive about parents that I never had." Tama puts a hand over mine and squeezes them. "I know you never really had parents Maui, but you do have a lot of people in your corner. You have Moana, her parents, me, and the people of Montonui."

   I nod in agreement letting him continue with his speech. "What your birth parents did to you was terrible and I'm truly sorry that that happened to you, but at the same time, I honestly think it's the best thing that ever happened to because it made you, you. You have power, gifts, and a family here. Don't ever forget that, okay?" I nod once more and lead my head against Tama's. We stay like this until he falls asleep. I chuckle and gently place him down on the bed. I tuck him in as if he were a small child and kiss him on the forehead. I watch him sleep for a little while because quietly climbing into bed with him, wrap my arms around him, and fall asleep, not even caring about whether or not I catch his cold.
