Getting Ready To Set Sail 

Chapter 18 

Tamatoa's POV

 It's nightfall so as promised I'm making my way back to Maui. I got a lot of thinking in and feel a little bit better than earlier. Though as I hear loud sobs coming from Maui's hut, sadness seeps back into my system. Cautiously, I open the door of his hut and call out his name. Maui looks up at me with tears in his eyes and the saddest look I've ever seen on his face. I sit down beside him on the ground and hold him as he continues to cry. I simply hold him until he's let it all out before I ask him the obvious question of what's wrong. "T-Tama, Moana's dead." 

  "W-what?" Maui nods grimly. "Moana's dead. She committed suicide earlier today. Her parents and I found her body dangling from a rope on the ceiling of her hut." I look at Maui in complete shock before hanging my head low in sadness. "Maui, this is all my fault. I should be the one who's dead." Maui looks at me and let's out another heart wrenching sob. "It should be never of you. I need both my best friend and my love. We need to try and bring her back Tama." I nod in agreement. "Just how are we going to do that Maui?" He wipes away stray tears and gives me a look of determination. "Why we're going to sail to Te Fiti. Now get packing Crab Cakes, we're setting sail in an hour." 

   I give Maui a small nod and rush to pack my things in a frenzy. I really hope we can bring Moana back from the dead. I know how much she means to Maui and as much as I hate to admit it, she's been starting to grown on me. 

One hour later...

   I make my way down to the shore with my belongings needed for the journey in tow as well as Moana's limp body in my arms. I gently place her onto the boat while Maui unties the boat from a nearby tree. He then jumps on and together we set sail to Te Fiti.
