Chapter 39
Tamatoa's POV
That evening...
Maui and I haven't been out on a date in awhile so I'm surprising him with one. I recently mastered my sailing skills so I'm going to take Maui sailing out under the stars. I know it's cheesy, but I happen to be a very corny individual as you probably already know. "Maui, I need to blindfold you for a few." Maui looks at me like I'm crazy. "Why do you want to blindfold me?" I bite my lip nervously. "I planned a date for us since we've been under so much stress lately. It'd be good for us. Though, I want to blindfold you so it's a surprise." Maui chuckles and puts his hands up in surrender, allowing me to blindfold him. I do so giddily and pull him down towards the shore.
When we get to the shore, I carefully help Maui onto a boat and begin sailing into the night. I wait until we're far enough from the shore before I take off Maui's blindfold. When I do, Maui gasps in shock. "You took me out for a ride? How'd you know Tama?" I smile. "You think I don't know how much you love being out on the ocean, let alone adventuring? You happen to be in love with someone who feels the same way about the ocean as you do." I bend down and take his hands in mine. "Before I met you Maui, I had been trapped in my lair down in the realm of monsters for thousands of years. I isolated myself just like you did back on your island, but now, you've introduced me to this amazing island of Montonui, full of kind people who treat me like family, especially Moana. You've given me a love of adventure, a family, and a life. Most importantly though, you've given me a second chance and I'm so grateful for that."
Maui looks at me with glassy eyes, tears teasing the corners of them. As a couple slip out, I wipe them away carefully with a claw, careful not to scratch him. "Maui, I know that proposing to me has been in the back of your mind. I see the way you light up at the prospect of marriage. It makes my heart melt in the best possible way. So right here, right now, I want to tell you that I want you to propose to me soon because I just want to officially be yours for all of our days." Maui gives me a small smile. "I promise you that I have a plan up my sleeve and it will render you speechless." I lean my forehead against his and close my eyes. "I can't wait. I love you so much Maui." My eyes flutter slowly and I stare into his gorgeous brown orbs of eyes. "I love you even more Tama." We both lean forward and kiss under the stars. This date will be one that I'll cherish forever.
