Chapter 42

Moana's POV

The next morning...

  Loi and I have been on a couple of dates and they've been lovely. So far, so good in our relationship. Loi and Maui are even starting to get along. I told both of them how much they mean to me and that if they really care about me, they'll be civil to one another. Like they don't have to be besties, but they can't be ripping each other's heads off whenever they feel like it. I'm very happy they agreed to be more respectful. That's one less worry I have to bear. Speaking of relationships, I'm so happy for Maui and Tama. They both deserve that happy ending and now they're getting it...with each other. I have my moments where I think about what if it was Maui and I instead of the reality, but looking back, I think it's silly now. I hundred percent believe Maui and Tama are meant to be with one another.

 I see Tama sitting alone outside of his and Maui's hut so I decide to go up to him. "Hey Tama, how's it going?" He gives me a warm smile. "It's going great Mo. How's it going?" I smile and find myself giving him the same response back. "I'm happy for you Mo. It's nice to see that things are turning around for you." I sit down next to him and lean my head on his shoulder so we've become close enough for me to be able to do that without feeling awkward. "I'm happy for you too Tama. Well for you and Maui. Maui's so happy that you said yes. He yammered on about for over an hour straight while helping me pick fruit for the villagers this morning." Tama chuckles. "Did he now? That sounds a little too perky to be Maui." 

   I throw my head back in laughter. "It's true Tama. You've turned Maui into a love sick puppy, but most importantly, you make him so happy. I'm really glad he has you." Tama's joyful expression shifts into one of concern. "Mo, are you really okay with me marrying Maui?" I smile him a sincere smile. "I'm absolutely okay with Maui. It took me a long time to get over Maui, but I promise you that I'm over him now. I'm happy with Loi and want to be in a committed relationship with him and him only." Tama gives me a kiss on the cheek, causing me to blush. I blush all the time. It's more of a curse than a blessing at this point. "Thank you for supporting us Mo. We love you so much." "I love you both to the moon and back. I wouldn't be who I am if it weren't for you and Maui. You've made my life so wonderful just by being in it." 

    Tama chuckles and it radiates across my upper body. "We used to be such messes. When I look back at you, Maui, and I, I've realized just how we've come." I put a hand up to interrupt him while laughing myself. "And I've realized just how far we have to go." Tama nods in agreement and we stare off at the horizon in a tranquil silence. Both of us are moving deeper into our relationships, taking a leap of faith to sort of speak. I'm proud of us.
