Saying Goodbye For A Week
Chapter 65
Tamatoa's POV
Two days later...
Mo and Loi are about to leave for their week long trip. Loi's getting the boat ready while Mo is dashing about for important supplies such as food, clothing, and blankets. She manages to get everything pretty quickly and runs down to the shore with it all in hands, handing it to Loi to put in the boat's storage compartment. He nods and puts everything in carefully. Loi then waits for her on the boat patiently while she gives us our goodbyes. She goes to Maui first as expected and then comes over to me. "You take care of yourself." I chuckle. "You make it sound like we're never going to see each other again Mo. It's only a week. Maui and I will be fine, the people of Montonui will be fine, and you and Loi will be fine. Everything is fine and will remain that way while you're gone." I put a hand to her cheek and caress it gently. "I want you to promise me something Mo." "Anything Tama." I give her a warm smile to ease her nerves. "I want you to promise me that you will enjoy yourself on your trip and actually relax."
Mo sighs. "I will promise to try my best to enjoy myself and actually relax." I look over to Loi and mouth "Help her on this trip." He nods while staring at Mo fondly. I can tell that he loves her. He's just a bit insecure at times. He'll grow out of that in time. Mo slips out of my light hold and dashes over to Loi and jumps onto the boat right as it begins to sail away. Her and Loi wave us until they're out of sight. Without even realizing it, a few tears slipped out of my eyes. I sheepishly wipe them away with the back of my claw hand. Maui extends a hand out for me to take and I do so gladly. We take a stroll around the island before announcing to the village that Maui is the temporary chief and I am the temporary adviser. Everyone seems to be okay with it because no one objects and/or storms off in rage. This is such progress compared to when I first arrived on the island. At least now some of the people actually like me and the rest at least tolerate me. That's good enough for me.
