A Newfound Demigoddess

Chapter 24

Moana's POV

The next day...

Tama went down to the shore to catch some fish for us to eat for lunch while Maui and I are sitting my parents hut, bracing ourselves for the potential backlash that might be coming from my parents once they know about my newfound abilities. I'm glad that Maui's here with me to help ease the blow. Without him, I honestly wouldn't have the courage to be facing them right now. "Mom, dad, there's something I need to tell you." They nod, though they look at Maui in confusion, wondering why he's here. "Maui's here for support and any questions you may have after I tell you what I'm about to tell you."

I take a deep breath. "I'm a demigoddess now." Both of them stare at me in pure shock with their jaws dropping to the ground. My dad is the first one to speak. "How did this happen?" Maui seeing my nerves begin to get the best of me and the sweat pouring down my body, volunteers to step in and explain. "Tamatoa and I brought Moana to Te Fiti in the hopes that she would bring her back to life, in which she did. During the healing process, Te Fiti wanted to establish a way that there'd be little chance of Moana dying again, so she made her into a demigoddess. Very few mortals are deemed worthy of the title. It goes to show just how special Moana is." I blush at Maui's compliment and lean my head on his shoulder.

My mother finally gathers the courage to speak. "I'm happy for you my little minnow, but I'm also a little sad because we'll be leaving this earth one day while you'll be living on forever." I hang my head down in sadness and nod. I don't speak because I'm afraid that I'll start crying. I don't want to cry anymore. I'd shed enough tears these past few weeks. I want to start being happy. My father comes over and wraps an arm around me with a warm smile on his face. "Do you know what cool powers you have?" A giggle slips out. "Not yet, but Maui's going to teach me how to use them once we establish what ones I have. Isn't that right Maui?" He nods with a warm smile on his face as well.

Maui then looks at my dad. "I was actually going to start teaching her today if that's okay with you and Sina." My mom gives Maui a small smile. "That's absolutely okay with us. Go have fun you two." I hug both of my parents before running out of the hut with Maui and to our secret place so we can trial and error my powers in private. This will certainly be an interesting day.

Four hours later...

Maui and I have been able to establish what powers I have, though it's going to take a few days to properly get a grip on them. We're calling it a day for now. The powers I have are shape shifting like Maui, healing like Te Fiti, and a photographic memory in which I can remember and recite every word of what people say and/or what I hear. I'm so happy that I not only have cool powers, but I have ones that are quite useful as well.
