Stressed Out
Chapter 67
Maui's POV
Two days later...
Tama and I have only been filling in for Mo for two days and we've nearly gone at each other's throats three times... and I thought being a demigod was stressful. If Tama and I were mortals, I'm pretty sure we would have had a heart attack by now. Seriously, being chief is so stressful. No wonder why Mo was so eager to get away. While I love the people of Montonui, they can be so damn demanding at times. If things don't go their way right way, they throw hissy fits. I'm honestly at the point of not giving a fuck.
Tama and I are currently helping the fishermen as usual when I notice Tama becoming rather unstable all of the sudden. His skin becomes rather pale and his legs give out. I catch him right before he hits the ground. Tama looks up at me in panic. "I-I'm sorry Maui. I don't know what just happened. I-I'm okay now though... I think." I shake my head. "Tama, you need to rest. Let me take you home." My voice cracks out of worry. "Please." He sighs but nods. I pick him up in my arms and carry him home. When we get to our hut, I carefully lift him into bed, cover him up, and stay with him for a little while before going back down to the shore to finish up with the daily catches. After I'm done, I rush back home to check on Tama who's sound asleep.
Two hours later...
Tama slowly begins to wake up. His eyes look over at me with love in them. "M-Maui, what are you doing here? Don't you have chief duties to do right now?" "Nope. You're my priority right now. I'm really worried about you baby. Are you okay?" He gives me a small smile. "I'm feeling better actually. I think the heat was getting to me and I just needed some rest is all." I study his face carefully and can clearly see the dark bags under his eyes. Tama may have gotten some rest, but it's not nearly enough. Hell I probably have the same dark bags under my eyes, possibly worse ones. The stress is really getting to us. I think that when Mo and Loi come back, we're going to take a day off and do nothing. We really need it in order to stay sane.
