Angelo

After talking with my dad, I couldn't get the fact that Maja has a daughter out of my head. I got up and I walked outside to see my big sister dressed in workout gear with our dog Rocco. "Hey, you want to come for a walk with us?" Shaunie asked. I nodded my head before we started our walk. "So..." She trailed making me look at her. "Oh, please you find out that girlfriend has a kid and you don't want to talk about it. I can practically see you coming up with dozens of scenarios, so I'm giving you a chance to vent." She said. I stayed quiet which made her sigh. "Fine tell me about this girlfriend that I'm just NOW finding out about." She hit me making me laugh. I explained how we even ended up in this weird relationship. "Wait she really said that? One text and that won't be ya man. I already like this girl." Shaunie said laughing. I told her about what happened when her family came down and how Maja acted. She nodded her head letting me know she was giving me her undivided attention. "Wow. It sounds like whatever happened with her family really made her skeptical of people." I nodded my head. "Then I asked her what was up with her and her step-brothers and she said she wasn't ready." I shook my head.

"If I don't ask about it, she'll probably never tell me," I said. "But if I do ask she could shut down on me again and start to push me away," I said once we reached the park. "Do you want my opinion?" Shaunie asked. I nodded my head. "Well, the fact that she's allowed you this far into her life shows that the wall she's put up to keep people out is slowly crumbling down. I think you should ask her again but if she's not ready to talk about don't push it."

After having that talk with Shaunie we went home and now I was sitting in my room. I grabbed my phone before I called Maja. "Hello." Maja's tired voice said. "You okay, Maj?" I asked. She was quiet for a while. "Maja." I heard her sniff. "I'm fine." She said softly. I sat up from where I was lying in my bed. "Send me your address," I said as I stood up slipping on my slides and grabbing my keys. "What? Why?" She asked sounding panicked. "Because you're crying." "I'm fine Angelo. Really." She said but I stopped her. "Then why are you crying?" Silence. That's all I heard. "Send me the address," I said as I walked down the stairs before hanging up. "Where are you going?" My dad asked from the living room. "You called her, didn't you?" I nodded my head. "She was crying I just want to make sure she's okay." He nodded his head. "Call me if you need me." "Alright."

I got to my car and checked my text messages to see she texted me.

$$^%$: I'm fine, really Angelo.

Me: Are you sure?

I waited for a response.

#$#^%#$: Yes. I'll call you tomorrow

I sighed. "God Maja just talk to me," I said before I got out of the car and went back inside.

Maja

"Sami?" I called as I walked into her room seeing her talk on my phone. "What are you doing?" I asked. "Talking to daddy." She said before handing me my phone. "He wants to talk to you." "Hello?" I said. "Sorry I normally call her at this time." He said. I sighed. "It's fine. Did you still need to talk to her?" I asked. "No." He said. "Bye," I said about to hang up. "Goodnight Maja." He said before he hung up.

"Sami," I said as I laughed as she told me about her dream. "Mommy I'm serious. Then the dinosaur head turned into Michael Jackson and he started singing." I threw my head back with laughter. "I miss you a lot." She said with a sad face that broke my heart.

"I know mamas. I wish I could spend every day with you." I said. "I just need you to keep being a big girl for me just a little while longer. Then I'll be home for good and it'll be you and me all day every day." I said making her smile. "And daddy?" I kept the smile on my face but mentally I was gagging. "We'll see, but can you be a big girl for me?" I asked. She nodded her head. "Yes, mommy." I smiled holding my arms open. "I love you baby girl," I said squeezing her before I started poking her sides. "I love you too mommy." She squealed and started squirming. "How about we get some ice cream?" I asked looking down at her. She nodded her head rapidly. She hopped off the bed and ran off to the kitchen making me laugh.

After we got the ice cream we went and sat in the living and I was listening to her tell me about school when the doorbell rang. I got up and walked to the front door with Sami right beside me. "Hell..." I stopped when I saw Dimitri standing there. "Daddy!" Sami yelled as he scooped her up. He chuckled. "You literally just saw me earlier today." She shrugged. "I like when you and mommy are together." She smiled. "Why are you here Dimitri?" He looked at me. "Sami didn't tell you?" He questioned. "Tell me what?" I said with a raised eyebrow. "I always tuck her in and read her a bedtime story. It's our thing right. Right, little mama?" Samiya nodded her head. "Right." She said nodding her head. I looked at my smiling little girl then to her father. "Fine."

"The little girl stood in front of her kingdom for the first time as the queen of all the land." He whispered as he looked down seeing that she was sleep. I was leaning against the door watching him. He got up and walked towards the doors leaving it cracked as he followed me down the hall. I turned crossing my arms. "Okay, you can leave now," I said nodding to the door. "Why do you hate me?" I furrowed my eyebrows confused. "What?"

"Why do you hate me? You and I used to be close. We were in love at one point." He spoke genuinely confused. "I know I lied but the hate you feel for me is more than that. What did I do?" My breathing became shallow and I couldn't look at him. He walked closer to me and when he went to reach out for me I stepped back. "You need to leave." "Either you can tell me what happened or I'll find out myself!" Dimitri said deadly serious as his voice rose. "Are you two good because yall are loud," Arnell said with Nadia on her tail.

"Sorry, Dimitri was just leaving," I said looking back at him. "I'll find out, you know I will." He said sparing me one last glance before walking to the door. I walked over to the door locking it, only to turn around and see my sisters staring at me. "Find out what Maja?" Nadia asked. "What happened between me and our fathers," I said walking past them to my room.
