Maja

"Get out of my house before I call..." I began to stammer because I knew I couldn't call anyone and he knew it too. He smiled at me as he slowly made his way to me. "Dimitri came to my office asking about us." My eyes widened a bit. "What did you tell him?" I asked. "Nothing but you need to tell him something so he'll stop asking questions unless you want him to find out," Richard said. "I'll handle it now get out of my house." I snapped walking past him to the door only for him to tightly grip my arm pulling me to him.

I tried to pull myself out of his grip to avail. He spun me around pushing me into a wall. My heart was racing at how close he was to me. "I am growing very tired of this attitude of yours." He as his hand wrapped around my waist. "You've forgotten how you supposed to speak to me. Maybe you need a reminder." He said gripping my throat. I grabbed his wrist in an attempt to try and move his arms. "Please." I whimpered as his grip tightened.

He tilted my head up before kissing me. I tried to push his face away but he was stronger than me. There was a knock on my door and I expected Richard to let me go but he didn't. I was struggling to get out of his hold but he wasn't budging. "Maja!" I heard Angelo call. Richard pulled away from me and turned and looked back at the door. "Who is he?" He asked pushing my head roughly against the wall. My eyes began to water and I found myself feeling like that trapped 18-year-old.

Richard's angry smile twisted into a smile before he pecked my lips. "Meet me at my office tomorrow." He said leaving no room for protest. "A-a-and if I d-d-don't?" I questioned. He chuckled darkly. "I'll just have to make another visit." He taunted as he walked to my front door. He swung the door open and walked past Angelo while I stood petrified. Angelo's eyes followed Richard as he walked to his car before he turned his attention to me. I wiped my face before turning and heading to the kitchen.

Angelo

I watched as Maja turned and went into the kitchen. I walked inside closing her door and following her. "Why was the governor here?" I asked as I stood behind her. She sniffed before turning to look at me. Her eyes and nose were probably red and her face was puffy. I clenched my jaw when I saw bruises on her neck. "What are you doing here Angelo? I thought you were going home." She said. "I was but I forgot my jacket. What happened? Talk to me." I asked.

She opened her mouth but nothing came out. She sighed walking past me but I followed her. She walked into the bathroom and I stood leaning against the door while she started washing her face. "Maja if he hurt you..." "What? Youll fight him. He's the fucking governor of Texas. He can get away with anything he wants." She said. "Besides I can handle myself." She mumbled. "Clearly you can't. you have bruises covering your neck." She stared at herself in the mirror.

She glanced at me. "I can handle Richard. I've done it before." She said more so to herself. "What is that supposed to mean?" I questioned. She looked at me with tears in her eyes. Before she left me standing in the kitchen by myself. I went into her room and sat on her bed waiting for her to come back. She froze when she walked in and saw there.

She went to the bathroom and I got up leaning against the doorframe watching her. It was obvious that she had a lot on her mind and she didn't think I could handle it. "If it makes you feel any better I have a secret too," I said looking at her. "What?" She asked looking at me as she washed her face. "You've shared a huge secret about yourself so it's only right I share one."

She looked at me. "Okay continue." She said skeptically. "Now this can't leave this room," I said glancing at her. She nodded her head. "Go on." "Well, my father is a special agent for the government." She scoffed. "Stop lying." She said shaking her head. I chuckled. "I'm serious, but the really unbelievable part is that my uncle is a wanted criminal," I said as I took a seat on the bed in front of the bathroom door. She looked at me with a raised eyebrow.
