Closure pt2

I debated with myself if I should tell Qing that I came across a girl I dated before. Is it important that he knows that I met up with NaLi?

The thing is, NaLi is not an ex. Not like Lipin. Not officially.

NaLi and I briefly dated for three months back in our sophomore year in the university. NaLi's family leaving Beijing is the only reason why we never made it in the official boyfriend/girlfriend category.

They moved so suddenly, NaLi was not even able to say her proper goodbye to all her friends in the university.

In short, NaLi and I, we don't have what people can say "closure". We were interrupted. And, so she is not an ex. Just someone I dated.

So I am wondering if I should tell Qing.

But then again, I learned my lesson from that Lipin fiasco last year. So this debate with myself is moot and pointless.

I called Qing.

Qing: (all smiles) Hello, Love. How is work?

Me: Fine. You look happy.

It's great to see Qing happy. Maybe he will not find my news of meeting NaLi that bad if he is in a good mood.

Qing: I was just with the guys. Practicing.

His basketball squad.

Me: I see. That is good.

Qing: We like to keep our shapes. How about you, have you had your dinner?

Me: Yes. I have eaten. You have eaten, right?

Qing: I was with the guys, be assured that we ate.

Yes. One good thing with Qing's basketball squad, there are guys there that won't tolerate starvation. They surely feed themselves well.

Me: That's nice to know. So I saw NaLi.

(What? How? Why?)

Yeah...I think it's better this way. You know, just give it to Qing straight like that. No fuss, no drama...

Goodness.

Qing: (frowning) NaLi? From college?

Me: Yeah. Funny story, I had dinner with my coactors here and when we were leaving the restaurant, I saw her outside. NaLi. We said hi and hello. And then we had some hot cocoa and butter spongecake. They were good.

I said that it was a funny story but Qing's reaction is far from hearing a funny story.

He continued to frown at me.

Qing: (still frowning) What are good?

Me: The hot cocoa and spongecake.

Qing: (with his perpetual frown) I see.

Yeah...I see now what NaLi was talking about. That perpetual scowl and frown on Qing's face.
