The Tiny Cup

In the spirit of Father's Day, Baba will treat us to thorough hospital check up.

Yes. It's the annual Wang hospital check up.

And you will all be right, this is not Baba's idea at all. Nor it is Qing's. It's Auntie and Mama's idea.

Yes. Uncle Wang and Zhu gege are joining us as well.

JiJi, who just had a check up last April, that we will not discuss again, will be exempted except she will join us in the hospital because after the check ups, we will have dinner together. Her husband will also join us later for dinner. He also had his check up with JiJi so he is on clear as well.

It's gonna be Mama, Baba, Uncle Wang,  Auntie, Zhu gege, Qing and I who will undergo check ups. Body check up as I just had my psychological evaluation where I was diagnosed with stress and burn out.

My Mama and Baba in Harbin had already undergone their yearly check up last March. My father's company paid for that and I think that is just. My Baba has been a loyal employee so it's just right that the company where he works paid for their check up.

I was in Wuxi when my parents had their check up and just started shooting so I couldn't join them. I have to join the Wangs because...well...pressure everywhere.

Qing's Mama: You will join us, right Dayu?

Qing: He will join us. Right, Love?

My Mama: You will join Qing and his family on their annual check up, right Son?

Yeah...pressure.

So I gave in.

And when I said thorough check up, I meant whole body check up. From head to toe. Outside and inside.

Wang Zhu: (mumbling) I should have dragged Pau here. He is also due for a check up. An all around check up.

Qing: Except for prostate exam. We are still too young for that.

Me: (resigned) Wonderful. Thank you for informing me.

Wang Zhu: We are still too young for prostate exam? I see.

Baba: Let's not talk about this anymore.

We all turned quiet, because we know that Qing's Baba and Uncle will undergo prostate exam.

So we entered the hospital through the VIP doors like we are being lead to the torture dungeon.

We are lead to separate rooms to await the doctors who will assist us. Qing and I are placed in one cozy VIP room together.

Me: Will it be like last year. Where we have to wear hospital robes to get through all our exams?

Qing: Most probably.

And that is what happened. Qing and I were handed blue hospital robes. Asked to remove our clothes except our underwears. The hospital robe is like a knee high bathrobe. And because this is a hospital, I trust that their robes are well washed and sterile so my OCD is not protesting that I wear them.

In this hospital, we will be assisted by nurses to go to a certain examination room where we will be examinated. But first, they drew our blood as samples for blood tests in that room.

Then we went to have XRAY, MRI, CT Scans, eye and ear check up, mouth and tongue check up and even did some lung exercises.
