I didn't get to buy new books after all. The same day when I moaned about my pimples and decided to make myself feel better by buying books, my mother called to ask if we have spare things we can donate to her charity.

My mother's church has a project to help people who has experienced calamity like typhoons or accidents like their houses getting burned by fire. And as a part of her church, my Mama wants to do her part.

So she called me to ask if we have spares we can donate and I finally remember that it has been months since I cleaned and sorted out our closet.

Mama: I am not asking you to donate things you are still using or love to use, Dayu ah. Just the things you can spare. And it doesn't have to be a lot.

Me: I understand. I will check our things and see if I have somethings here that I can donate.

Mama: Okay. Thank you, Dayu ah. Are you doing well...?

Me: I have pimples.

Mama: (tutting sound) Wash your face with clean water and leave them alone. If they look infected, go to a dermatologist. Don't put anything on your skin without doctor's supervision. We don't want any scarrings now, do we?

My mother can be vain too, just in case you all didn't know...

Me: I will do that. How are you? You and Baba doing well?

Mama: We visited your grandmother. She misses you.

Me: Oh no...I will call her soon. How is she?

Mama: You can do that. You don't need to worry, she is in good health and she urged us to go home early because she have Bingo nights with her friends in the Senior Community Hall in their town.

Me: That is nice to hear that GrandMa is busy with Bingo Nights. Still, I have to call her...

Mama: Yes you can call her but don't feel too burdened. Your grandmother knows that you are busy. But do spare some time to call her so she can hear your voice.

Me: Okay. And if I have some free time, I will take you and her out. Just the three of us.

Mama: (laughing) I would love that. But your Baba might feel left out.

Me: Oh...okay, let's take him too and we can split the bill on our outing.

Mama laughed again.

Mama: You cheeky boy. Be well, okay. And send my regards to Qing.

Me: He is busy working. He said he has no time to even think of me.

Mama: Ouch, that must have sting. Do you believe him?

Me: (chuckling) No. He sends me messages most nights before we go to sleep. So I know he thinks of me as well.

Mama: Good. Just don't distract Qing as he works and behave while you are working there in Beijing.

Me: I am behaving.
