Randall's Story/ Part 6

It had been five years since I last saw Mikasa. It had also been three years since the Titan attack in wall Maria.

I was doing fine surviving inside Wall Rose during these three years.

I eventually began to believe that Mikasa was killed back at wall Maria during the attack since I hadn't seen her at all during my time inside Trost district within wall Rose.

Once I turned 15, I decided to enroll as a soldier in training in 104th cadet corps.

I was standing in a line, standing up straight, my hand formed into a fist against my heart, saluting. When you do this, it shows that you are dedicated to the cause.

I was wanting to become a soilder do I could join the Garrison in the Stationary guard.

Perhaps if I did that, I could protect the people in town...or simply guard. I felt that it would be a great honor to become a soldier dedicated to humanity, so I decided to enroll.

I wasn't originally planning to become a soldier however. I was originally going to become either an inventor or a clerk to a store.

But here I am….

But as I stood in line I gasped and nearly forgot to breathe.

I wasn't paying attention until now. But the girl standing in front of me….she reminded me so much of Mikasa.

Her back was facing g me, so I couldn't take a look at her face, but she had long black, silky hair. It reminded me too much of Mikasa.

Memories immediately start to play in my head as I remember days when I would go into the woods and see Mikasa and her parents in that little cabin house.

I missed those days…

Eventually our instructor approached me and demanded for my name.

In the loudest voice I could muster, I introduced myself and stated my reasons for joining. I think I might of left an ok impression….maybe. but he did call me Titan food towards the end, so….

Basically the rest of the day was our Instructor Keith, introducing himself, took us on a tour around the training sites and informing is on what to expect and the consequences if we can't handle the training.

If we can't handle the training, we get sent to work in the fields. Ever since wall Maria has fallen, food has come hard to get by. So the government needs as many people working in the fields as possible.

So if you fail to meet the expectations required in becoming a soldier, you will be dropped out and moved into working in the fields.

So I can't afford to let myself fail in this training. If I did, it would be all for nothing.

Soon enough evening arrived and the sun was slowly beginning to go down.

I was eating my dinner, and I was shocked upon seeing the woman with that black, long-silky hair.

I was able to catch a look at her face. Suddenly it hit me.

It was her.

I immediately stood up from my table and hurried over to her.

“M-Mikasa!? Is that you…?”

She turned to face me and sure enough, it was her.

We started at each other for a moment and she eventually spoke up.

“R-Randall? What are you doing here?” She seemed greatly surprised to see me.

It's been about five years since we've seen each other. I honestly thought she was dead. I thought she didn't survive the Titan attack because I haven't seen her since before that event.

Two boys approach her by her side. Ibregonized the one by her left as Eren yeager. It was reassuring knowing that he was still looking after her.

The one by her left was a blonde haired boy with ocean eyes.

So she's made friends since these five years...that's great to know.

And to answer Mikasa’s questioned….

“I've decided I would become a soldier to join the Stationary guard.”

“I see…..it was nice meeting you after five years.” Mikasa says in a calm demeanor while giving me a small smile.

With that being said, she leaves out the door of the mess hall with her two guy-friends.

Oh that's right. It's about time to return to the barracks for some rest.

I would have never thought that Mikasa would aim to become a soldier. I wonder why she decided to enroll to become one. Did it have anything to do with the Titan attack five years ago?
