Today was Valentine's day. The day of the year when you express your love to the ones you hold dear. Today Armin wanted to do something special for his parents, the ones that mean the world to him. But as to what exactly he should do, Armin was at first, uncertain. But after a lot of thinking and pondering, the idea comes to him.
He heads off to the shopping district and with the money he had, he buys two pairs of boxed chocolate, and roses. When he gets home, luckily, his parents are distracted talking about fiance and money in the main room. So Armin sneaks upstairs, hides the chocolates and roses as he grabs out paper, scissors and other crafty tools as he makes handmade letters to give his parents.
Once finished, he hurried into the room, his hands completely full and he wishes his parents a Happy Valentines day. His parents scoops Armin up into a big great hug, while covering his cheeks full of kisses. They tell him how much they love him, and a big wide smile stained itself onto Armin's joyful face.
That afternoon, the family spent quality time together, just having fun being with the other. But once evening hit, Armin's parents gave Armin kisses telling him how they were going to go on a little date that evening. They also made sure to warn him about going to bed at a decent time. After all, they know how much Armin is glued to his books. There are several nights they have caught their little cinnamon roll fallen asleep on his bed, with a book in his face.
Armin reassures them that he will go to bed at a decent hour before they left. When they left, Armin soon hurried on over to Eren's house. Armin throws five rocks at Eren's window while shouting in a harsh whisper,
"EREEEEN!!!"
Eren was sound asleep but irritation gnawed at him when he awoke to the pounding of rocks at his bedroom window. "W-What the hell?!" Eren groaned before forcing himself out of his bed and he walked himself to his window and rolled it down to only see his best friend Armin down below.
"Armin? The hell you doing? Do you have any idea how late it is? The sun is about down, its night hour!" Eren fussed. "I know, but...my parents are away for a little date since it's valentine's day, and I was kinda wondering if you'd want to come over to my place...? To read?" Eren thought it over before asking....
"Do you still have that one book...? You know, about the outside...?"
"Yep, I sure do!" Armin nods eagerly. Having received that answer, Eren sneaks out the window and carefully, yet rashly, jumps down and heads over to Armin's place with him. The two cooped themselves up in Armin's room. The place was dark, but Armin had lit a little fire, bright enough for the two boys to see.
Armin and Eren was ontop on Armin's bed, Armin's pink futon blanketing over their shoulders, and spread out before them was Armin's grandfather's book, discussing the secrets of the outside world. Whether what was said and drawn in the book was real or not, neither knew. But despite that, the book gave them a burning passion of desire to see the world beyond the walls. And every since Armin shown Eren this book, their friendship had grown and they shared a dream with the other-- a dream to one day see the world outside together. And to one day discover the Ocean together.
"Lands filled with ice, mountains of sand, damp rainforest, and a Ocean that stretches far beyond the horizon with an unlimited amount of salt and sea life....this all lies beyond this birdcage we are trapped within, Eren. it's all just waiting for us to discover." Armin whispers to his best friend in excitement.
"Yeah..." Eren nods eagerly, feeling the same exact way Armin felt. Over time, the two boys eventually fall asleep with the book glued to their faces, and the fire that was originally lit up besides the two burnt out.
It wasn't long after, Armin's mother and father came back from their date. The house was awfully silent, so the wife and husband had thought, Armin kept true to his word and that he went to bed at a decent hour, just as promised.
But when the two peeked into their son's room, they can see Armin with his best friend Eren, sound asleep with his grandfather's book before him. They both giggled at the sight, finding it completely adorable.
They left the two be, and went to bed to get their own selves some much needed sleep. It was at 1:00 am in the morning, Eren woke up to find himself next to sleeping Armin, still in his room. "Crap-!!" Eren cursed in a panic.
Eren silently but quickly pulls himself off Armin's bed without waking up the cinnamon roll, and he darts out Armin's house and hurries back to his own house and he climbs himself back up through his bedroom window and shuts it before sighing in relief.
"Where were you?"
Eren jolts and turns around to see Mikasa. She didn't look quite happy. Eren was silent at first, feeling too stubborn to inform her at first, but to avoid trouble, he decided to tell her. After all, what harm would it do? If she knew where he was, she surely wouldn't say anything to his mom or dad.
"....At Armin's place, staying up and reading." Eren blushed in embarrassment as he refuses to meet eyes with Mikasa. "You were gone too long. I was worried. And if you waited any longer, your mother would be the least happy." Mikasa points out how Carla, Eren's mom, would had probably thrown a fit in a panic. She would probably appear angry and scolding, but it would be out of love and worry for her beloved son.
"I know, I know....just don't tell mom or dad." Eren ask of the girl. "As long as you're more careful about how late you stay over, then okay." Mikasa nods. And that was how Armin spent his day and night of Valentines day.
