Armin Arlert, is a soldier trying to survive in a post apocalyptic world by scavenging among the ruins of what is left. He has a automatic rifle and a grenade. Armin has lived in this military bunker since the bombs went off. He woke up and reported for duty to his commanding officer and he tells him that there has been an attack on the base.
The first thing Armin does is check his radio to see if anyone else heard anything about it. Nothing. The next thing Armin does is venture outside to look at the damage done to the road. The damage was bad... cold and dead bodies who were once soldiers lied around the road, limbs torn off and blood splattered everywhere.
Armin felt a pang of great sadness at the horrible sight. If only... things could have gone differently. If only... things could have been avoided, taking another path. Armin continues to look at the damage done for his report.
"We lost contact with our unit and all communication was lost with the rest of the base." He says as he writes down everything. "I don't know how long we will be able to keep going now." Armin was losing faith. Faith in humanitys future. What will become of them? What more can they do to survive? Was all the sacrifices made until now... All in vain?
Armin finishes his notes and decides to return to base, seeing how he finished his report there was nothing left to be done here. Armin returns to base and reports the situation to his superior officer. "There's no way out of here, the highway leading into town is destroyed and there's nowhere else to run."
"Well then, I guess we should just stay put and wait for help." The commander responds. Armin thinks over it though. Is this really the best they can do? Run and hide? And wait for the end to come? But... maybe it is the best thing to do. For now, at least. Wait until an opportunity comes. However, Armin wanted to speak up. He wished to come up with some sort of plan that could help change things. But... even so, what good could any of the lot of them do against such monsters...?
Armin decides to obey the commanders decision and Armin leaves in search of Kiyomi, a dear friend. He searches the entire place looking for her, but doesn't find her anywhere. He thinks about what to do next and finally comes up with a plan.
"Commander let's head out of this area and try to get away from this place. I think we need to leave this area."
"What?! Why?!" The commander whines.
Armin couldn't keep it in any longer. He had to voice to the commander how he felt that himself and the others were like sitting ducks at this base. Perhaps, if they leave this area, they may find something that could be humanity's ray of hope for survival.
"Commander, we are sitting ducks out here. If we stay any longer, they will come. We won't survive if they suddenly make another attack! I think we ought to take our chances and venture outside. We... if we venture out further, we might find a ray of hope for humanitys survival. Commander, Please... consider this." Armin insist, a look of seriousness and determination reflecting in his ocean blue eyes.
The commander agrees for the rest of the army to leave the area.
