Every night Armin's mother would read Armin bedtime stories before going to sleep. She would read Armin stories from physical books, and sometimes stories kept inside her head.

Either way, Armin loved the stories his mother would tell him about. Every day his mother was there for him, talked to him, and smiled to him. It was the same for his father. They were always there. It never occurred to Armin that one day, they would disappear from his life forever.

His parents were planning to sneak outside the walls to see the world outside. To know what it's like out there. To see and feel what freedom actually felt like.

Armin's parents promised little Armin that when they came back, they'd tell him all about it. Armin, his parents, and even his grandfather, have a big curiosity for the world beyond the walls. So Armin was naturally eager at the idea of his parents telling them everything about the outside from experience.

One day Armin was hanging out at his grandfather's house and he was looking through and reading old books stored in the basement. But while searching for something interesting to read, Armin's heart nearly jumped out of his chest, and his eyes nearly popped out of their sockets!

"Eren! Eren! Eren!!" Armin called constantly as he ran over to his best friend Eren Yeager who say in the grass near the river, simply staring up at the sky, not exactly thinking much about anything in particular. Not that it's strange for a kid to be thinking about nothing.

But when Armin rushed to Eren's side he held a book on you hand. Eren complained at first, telling Armin how he didn't have to yell so much. But Armin ignored Eren's words while excitedly showing off his new book he found in his grandfather's basement.

Eren was a little taken hack and surprised by how Armin was acting. He's never seen the blonde coconut act so excited and enthusiastic before. What exactly was in that book again? What's it about?

Armin thus tells Eren how it's a book telling about the world beyond the walls. It had more information stored inside it than his mother ever told him about. Eren was shocked, to think that Armin's Gramps had such a book.

Anyone with any object or information covering the world beyond the walls or showing interest towards the outside, can easily get their butts kicked behind bars. That kind of thing was illegal. The King forbidden it.

Eren warned Armin, but the boy didn't care. He just continued to ramble on about the outside, about his discoveries as yesterday flipped through the pages. At this point, Eren was nearly just as intrigued as Armin was. Never did he ever wonder what existed outside. The world beyond the walls seems so vast...

Armin tells Eren a secret. A secret he must never tell anyone. He tells Eren how his parents were planning to sneak outside the walls to see first hand what the world beyond the walls was like. But then...

"Then maybe...we can do it. Maybe you and I can explore it together."

Ever since then, Armin and Eren promised to one day explore the land outside together and to one day, see the Ocean.

Armin's parents eventually bids him goodbye until they return from their trip. Armin wishes them good luck and to have a great trip.

Armin's father pat's Armin on the shoulder, and Armin's mother gave Armin a peck on the cheek. He waved at them...but never thought to himself that that would be the very last time he ever waved them off. That that would be the very last time he saw them and their smiling faces. That that moment they just had...would be their very last together.

Armin waited and waited for his parents return. He waited days...and he waited weeks...until...he realized they weren't coming back. Armin cried and sobbed hard. But eventually he stops crying in order to be strong.

He had to be strong...for them. For his grandfather. And for his friends. So he wiped away his tears and decided to move forward.

His parents tried to fly out beyond the walls using a hot air balloon, but Mp's caught them and they were shot down and executed. Word never got out to the public. Nobody wanted to release this information out to the public.

But despite his parents death, that didn't change Armin's dream. He still desired to explore the work outside the walls. He still wished and dreamed to see the Ocean. But no matter what, he will never forget the warmth his parents gave him.
