Randall's Story/ Part 7

As time went on we eventually started training after being lectured about how to use our maneuvering equipment and how to kill a Titan.

Whether we plan to join the scouts or not, learning how to fight and kill a Titan is required for graduation.

I was surprised how good Mikasa was at this. She remained calm and slashed the nape of the fake Titan dummies off with ease. She was amazing. I remember her being really skilled when we were kids, but I didn't think she would be this skilled athletically as well. She was impressive.

Often I would find myself becoming distracted and I would simply watch her get things done. I wasn't alone however. Others would watch and marvel at how perfect she accomplished each task with ease.

She seemed different from the last time I saw her. She seemed unusually calm, focused and strong.

I found myself admiring her.

As time past I eventually asked Mikasa why she wanted to become a soldier during lunch.

She answered me by saying how she was going to become a soldier and she was going to join the scouts alongside Eren so she can protect him.

But isn't it supposed to be the other way around?

Well….I guess this means while Eren is looking out for her, she is making an effort to look out for him as well.

But the thought of her venturing outside scared me. She could be killed or eaten alive by a Titan…

I warn her about the risk but she said she didn't care how dangerous it was to venture outside and where Eren goes, she goes.

In only five or six years she's become so attached to Eren. I asked Eren to protect her and he said he promised. But now he's joining the scouts which is practically suicide and Mikasa is following into his footsteps.

I wonder if it was a mistake to entrust Mikasa to Eren...
