It was another day of training was standing tall outside, all lined up. When ordered and greeted by instructor Keith, everyone slammed their tightly formed first against their chest saluting. When you salute, that is a soldier's way of telling those around them that they are loyal and willing to give their hearts for the cause.

Today's training was sure to be as tough and ruthless as ever. And indeed it was. Today was a rainy day. So it would seem that mother nature wasn't to be on the to-be soldiers sides in training.

They did push ups, maneuvering, sit ups, combat, and now jogging through the woods with bags over their backs. Armin Arlert, the weakest of the corps when it comes to physical strength, was finally reaching the edge of exertion.

Armin breathed in and out though his mouth quite heavily. His vision grew into nothing but a hazy blur. He had to stop. He knew had had to. But...he couldn't. Because doing so would be no better than admitting defeat.

So Armin gritted his teeth, fighting the pain and heavy weight that continued to threaten to break his back. He continued to urge his feet and legs to continue moving forward. He forced himself to look upwards, ahead.

He won't ever let himself lose sight of the goal. If he were to, then that would have truly lost. Armin's moral and spirits were only just starting to rise, but misfortune happened to be on his side instead of luck.

Armin slips and begins to fall down the rock side besides him! Armin lets out a panicked gasp as he realized what was happening. He attempted to grab out for the ledge before him, but he knew it, the back of his head pounded mightily against another rocky ledge below him.

He grumbles and winces as he stayed down. He lost his bag hanging down a tree branch way further down. Armin wasn't going to risk his life for a mere bag even if it meant later getting a harsh scolding from instructor Keith himself.

So Armin climbed back up from where he tumbled down. It proved to be a challenge, however. Especially seeing how wet and slick the rocky ledges were. But despite the odds, he made it back up without a broken neck.

Armin sighed in relief, thankful to be alright. The back of his head did pain him, however. But it was something that he could live through. Armin picked up the pace, and in time, he managed to catch up to the pack. Relief washed over, him once more. That is, until instructor Keith slowed down his horse-steed to be besides the boy.

"Arlert!! Where the hell were you?!! And where's your bag?!!"

"S-Sir, I slipped and lost my down down the cliff. It was too far from my reach to require back." Armin explained timidly. The instructor merely tsked at the boy's given response.

"How pathetic. What would you have done if this training was actually a real situation occurring beyond the walls? What would you had done if that bag was your only means for survival? Like I always say, your cut out for nothing more but to be Titan chow for those hungry giants. How petty..."
