It was another day inside the walls

It was another day inside the walls. The battle in Trost district against the Titans was over. During the battle, you came across a special abnormal. It was a big 15 meter high Titan. It had long wavy dark brown locks of hair, sometimes hiding the monster's face. It had piercing teal eyes that could see right through you.

You had ran out of gas to your maneuvering equipment. You were on the run, constantly fleeing Titans on foot and hiding from them in vain. So far however, it's worked. But now you seemed to have reached your end. You come across the 15 meter abnormal Titan. It stared at you. You still had your blades. If you were to die here, you might as well die fighting.

A dead body of a fallen comrade happens to be close by at the time. You hurried on over, replaced their gas tank with your empty one, and you returned your gaze towards the beast. You were surprised to see it just watching you. It was just watching. It wasn't moving in to yank your limbs out. Not yet, at least. Perhaps it was amused to see you struggling?

Knowing that this could be your one and only chance at surviving, you connected your gears into the Titan's neck and you swoop off your feet, ready to slash your swords to cut out it's nape. But you weren't fast enough. The Titan grabs you with its hand a bit tightly, scaring you. You were certain at that moment when it grabbed you, you were going to be squeezed to death. But the grip the Titan had on your small body, loosened. You were placed gently ontop a roof.

You stared at the Titan with fear and confusion in your eyes. But the Titan stared at you with sadness. It turned away and darted off. What you didn't know at the time, was that this was no abnormal. This was actually a Titan shapeshifter-- a human with the ability to shapeshift into a Titan at will. And another thing you didn't know, this wasn't just any human. It was a fellow comrade-- a friend. It was Eren Yeager, a boy you trained besides during your Cadet days.

Ever since you learned that Eren was a Titan shapeshifter, you couldn't help but to be terrified of him. You tried not to show it, but Eren's not that stupid. He's not that blank minded. He was able to tell fear when he saw it. And he's known you for long enough, he can tell when your calm and when you're terrified. And Eren knew what you were terrified of....

"Y\N...hey, Y\N! Come on, quit trying to avoid me!" Eren barks in annoyance while he's trying to keep up with you. You were in the middle of cleaning under the orders of captain Levi. And you were basically running laps in the same crowded room filled with loaded boxes, while cleaning up the filthy floor.

"I-I'm not avoiding you!" You bark back, while clearly doing just as you denied. You were avoiding him. "Seriously, come on! What did I ever do to you?!" Eren groans. "Nothing!" You respond. "Then why do you keep doing this? Why do you keep running away from me?!"

"I-I'm not--"

Eventually Eren was able to catch up to you from in front, and he pins you to the wall by pressing his hands against your shoulders. You dropped your mop and bucket of water to the floor immediately. The water splashed all over the place.

"Seriously...what the hell did I ever do to you?"

"N-Nothing..."

Eren stared deep into your eyes, stubborn to get answers. But just one look in your eyes before you altered them from his gaze was enough for him to know what the matter was. "Are you...scared of me?" Eren's voice toned down. You force your gaze up meeting with his once more. Eren no longer seemed angry. But...sadness could be seen in his teal orbs. It was the same look he gave you that day.

"I-I'm not..." You denied. But Eren knew it was the truth. He lets go of your shoulders he was originally clutching tightly, and his arms drops to his sides, almost appearing lifeless. "I see..." He says very quietly. His voice almost couldn't be heard, he was so quiet.

"I'm...sorry." He backs away before making his leave from the room. You stood there, recovering from your paralyzed state. But...you couldn't help but to feel bad. This was wrong. You shouldn't be scared of Eren. you know him. And you know he would never hurt anyone here, or especially you for that matter. But...you couldn't help but to fear him.

His ability...it was one nobody has ever before had. The fact he was able to transform into such a monster by will....was terrifying. But, no. it wasn't the fact that he's able to transform into a Titan that terrifies you. It was merely the idea that he could transform into the one thing that terrifies you most....was what scared you.

But....as much as you wanted to still trust him, you felt that you couldn't. What if...deep down, he's actually one of them? What if he was actually a Titan but shapeshifts into a human instead? But...none of this makes sense. You only hurt your head worst and worst thinking harder about it.

But...this was wrong. You shouldn't fear Eren. You should trust him. Just like you did in those good ol days that wasn't so long ago. You should trust him just like you did in training and in classes.

You forced your legs to move and you start to run in attempt to pursue after Eren before he was gone for good. "E-Eren! Wait!" You cried desperately while your voice shook. The fear still wouldn't wash away completely. It was still there, despite the fact you wanted it to disappear something awful.

"Eren, please!"

After bursting out one last cry, you find yourself bumping right into his back. He had stopped in his tracks. You stepped a few steps back and looked up to see Eren's gaze staring right at you. He looked very confused. But why wouldn't he? For several long minutes you were just running away from him. But now, you were chasing after him!

"Eren...I-I'm sorry. I-I didn't mean to keep running from you like that. A-And...I'm not scared of you. I was just..."

"You were just what? What? Terrified?" Eren glares a very harsh and cold glare that sank deep into you. That glare...actually gave you goosebumps. But you ignore and brush off the feeling, and continue.

"Y-Yes!! Yes, I was scared!"

Eren tsked before turning away, but you grab at his arm, and force him to return his gaze and attention towards you. "But your my friend! And I know your not like the monsters that pushed us on the brink of extinction, that pushed us into these walls. Your not like them at all! You have feelings, your human. And all you want is the best for all of us, for everyone to be free. To win back the world that rightfully belongs to us. That the Titans stole away. Yes, I was scared...when I learned what you had the ability to transform into. But, just because you can look like them, doesn't mean your the same as they are. Your different. But I was still afraid. Afraid and confused. And I'm sorry. All I want now is for things to be back the way they were-- I want us to be able to talk again, and to have each others backs. Please."

You were practically begging for Eren to not turn his back on you. You were begging for him to stay besides you. Eren was silent for a moment before speaking...

"Of course. I wouldn't blame you for being afraid at first. I am, afterall, a monster." Eren's said quite glumly, as his eyes sank with his mood. "No, your not a monster-!!" You started but Eren cut you off when he raised a hand, hinting how he has yet to finished speaking.

"But...I am glad. Glad...that despite knowing what I can become...that your still willing to put your faith in me and to stand by my side. Knowing that is....relieving. Thank you, Y/N. And I promise that we will have each other's backs. And I swear I will never let you meet your end by a Titan. I swear it."

Eren knows when you're calm and when your terrified. And he also knows what scares you the most...Titans.

The End
