Chapter 67: Ace Operatives

The morning seemed to arrive faster than Hawk had expected. He groaned quietly as he pushed himself out of bed, running his fingers through his hair to fix the morning bedhead and return it to its usual style. A quick and rapid knock made Hawk jump on the spot.

Penny: "Good morning Hawk! Mission briefing is in 10 minutes at general Ironwood's office!"

Hawk: "Thank you Penny. I'll be there soon."

Hawk leaned against the wall, rubbing his eyes a bit as he woke up, before going to the door. Hawk opened his dorm door, and was on his way when someone grabbed him by the shoulder. Hawk spun around while grabbing the wrist, pushing the person on instinct against the wall while his left hand glowed.

Hawk: "Quinton?!"

Quinton from team AQUA laughed as he held up his hands in mock surrender.

Quinton: "I heard rumours that new students arrived, but we wanted to see if that was true. It's been a while Hawk, how have you been?"

Hawk let go of him and looked over to see Anna, Ariel, and Umi walk over to him. The four of them were wearing official Atlas student uniforms.

Ariel: "It's nice to see you again Hawk. How are you doing? Did you get to continue schooling here in Atlas?"

Hawk: "Hey everyone. I don't think so, but I've been called to Ironwood's office."

Quinton smirked and playfully nudged Hawk's shoulder.

Quinton: "Been here less than 24 hours and already getting called to the headmaster's office? Not a good start."

Anna flicked Quinton on the forehead, giving a lightly scolding look.

Anna: "Behave Quinton. Weren't you in the headmaster's office three days ago?"

Quinton: "Uhh..."

Hawk just laughed shaking his head. Ariel stepped forward, placing a hand on his shoulder with a look of sympathy.

Ariel: "We didn't get to talk after it happened. I'm so sorry about Pyrrha. How are you all handling it?"

Hawk's smile faded as he let out a sigh.

Hawk: "One day at a time. Thank you, Ariel. I should get going, I don't want to be late."

Umi: "So long Hawk. Maybe we can train together when you have some free time."

Hawk: "That'd be great. Take care you four."

Hawk quickly walked off from the four as they went for classes. Hawk was the last person to enter Ironwood's office, seeing Ruby, Jaune, Qrow and Clover. Clover smiled seeing Hawk enter as he pulled up holograms to begin the briefing. Four holo screens appeared in front of them, showing the information as Clover gave the briefing.

Clover: "All right, gather 'round. Our mission today is to secure the launch site for the Amity Communications Tower. The designated area is an abandoned dust mine. Since its closure, the Grimm have moved in."

Images of the dust mine appeared on the screens, showing the level of Grimm that were surrounding it as well as huntsmen fighting. A larger picture appeared to show the group a large Geist Grimm that was evading the huntsmen attacking it.

Clover: "The good news is all that untouched dust is still down there, too. Science team says they'll need it for the first phase of their launch. TheAtlas military huntsmen are already hard at work clearing out the surrounding tundra. But recon has identified a powerful Geist that's managed to evade destruction and take several lives."
