Road Trip (One-Off)

It's been a few months since James and Adam last hung out. The two both had a lot of work to juggle I'm their lives which got in the way of them seeing each other. Adam would always try to plan things with James but he was always somewhere doing something that he was never apart of. He was a little upset he wasn't as included in James' life as he once was but they were just friends, they didn't have to be everywhere together.

One day however, James did have enough time for Adam. He jumped at the opportunity and went over to James house. Adam excitedly knocked on the door to see a sluggish James standing in front of him.

"Hey Adam." James said tiredly. A bit of Adam's excitement faded. James had bags under his eyes and his hair was almost as messy as his own. "Jameson, when was the last time you had a good night's sleep?" Adam asked. "Last night, and I've never felt better!"

Adam couldn't believe that. "So, what have you been up to lately Jameson."

"I've been working in here all the time. All the paper work, and animation had really stacked up on me but I got it all done. I've been feeling better now." James said.

"Ok, when was the last time you went outside and had some fun! Maybe go to fair or hang out with some friends."

"Well, I took Floof to the park a week ago. After that I don't really go outsides besides walking her."

Adam gave James a concerned look. He knew that wasn't healthy for anyone to do. "Ok, you need to have a day of relaxation. You need to get out and relax dude. We are going on a road trip."

"To where?"

"Mc. Donald's. But I'm California!"

"Adam! A drive from Arizona to California is about 12 hours there and back. That's not even adding traffic and bathroom breaks. Why can't we just go to the local McDonald's or order."

"Because that's not adventurous. I'm taking you out on an adventure. Now go call someone to take care of Floof and get in your car." Adam demanded. James just sighed and went along with his plan. He called someone over to watch Floof and left.

Adam got into the driver's seat. James gave him the key to start up the car and the two drove off. The first few minutes was basically Adam hyping James up for the trip ahead of them. James did at least look excited by his enthusiasm. After that though it was pretty much silent for a few minutes.

"So besides work, how's life been treating ya Jameson?" Adam asked.

"Pretty good. I mean work is pretty much all I've been up to these past few months. I mean I do work a bunch already with animations but as of recently I had to start getting merch into places like Game Stop. It's been really cool and all but man it's killing me. So what about you?"

"Just being the butt of YouTube's joke again. Algorithm stuff man. Do you know how much I hate that thing? I swear when I finally complete world domination I'm-"

"Gonna make sure that algorithm is fixed to make sure it treats everyone equally!" the two said at the same time. They started to laugh at each other. "I missed this." James confessed, "I missed being around you. " Adam shyly smiled as his cheeks were dusted with blush.

About two hours into the ride the two became bored. Everything seemed like it had been said for the most part.  At the corner of Adam's eye, he spotted an arcade nearby. He turned the car around and drove to it's direction.

"Adam what are you doing? The GPS says that you're going the wrong way." James said pointing to Adam's phone. "Relax Jameson, we'll just play a few James and be out in like five minutes we got time." Adam said and walked out of the car. James followed just to make sure they were on schedule.
