The last time Ri Jeong Hyeok had opened a car door for Yoon Se-ri, she had literally lurched over into his arms in an unconscious heap.
Suspended morbidly around the waist by her seat belt like a lifeless marionette on strings, with hot red blood gushing out of a fresh gunshot wound in her side, she had been dying...
...but he had been as good as dead.
Dead from a sense of overwhelming fear, shock, uncertainty and heartache at seeing his beloved sacrifice herself for him.
The smell of blood and gunshots had always been unpleasant to him, but when it was tinged with hints of Chanel Coco Mademoiselle Eau de Parfum, it had been nauseating, heart wrenching and traumatizing all at once.
Back then, if Se-ri had passed away in his arms should the bullet had struck somewhere more vital, he was quite sure he would have gone with her.
He would have immediately put a bullet to his own head, or even begged Jo Cheol Kang to shoot him through the heart, where it was already hurting the most.
Whichever was faster, really.
There would be no meaning in continuing with life, especially if she had lost hers because of him.
If they couldn't be together in life, being so in death was a comforting thought.
But she lived.
For that, he would live.
"Thank you, Ri Jeong Hyeok-ssi," Se-ri's sweet, clear voice cut through his dark memories of that fateful incident, as she stepped out of the car. "Oh wow...this is...amazing."
"Welcome again, to Lake Brienz." He gently said.
The view in front of her was just like something out of a picture-postcard; it wasn't hard to see why Interlaken, Lake Thun and Lake Brienz were such popular destinations among tourists.
It was where they had met in the past, though neither were aware of each other at that point.
He had been playing the song he had written for his brother on the piano along the southern shores of Lake Brienz, at the village of Iseltwald.
