"Jeong Hyeok! How are you, my good man?" Came a smooth, male voice with a distinctly British accent. "It has been years, hasn't it?"
A fierce hug was exchanged between the two men, and Se-ri smiled politely with a small bow.
"Oliver. It's really good seeing you here again. I hope you've enjoyed yourself earlier?" Jeong Hyeok replied fluently in English.
"That was absolutely magnificent..."
Se-ri left the men to their conversation, standing by the side in polite silence, especially since it was peppered with technical jargon which she wouldn't understand even in Korean, much less English.
They were all backstage, and it was way after all the members of the media had taken their leave.
Jeong Hyeok was practically glowing with joy. If anyone deserved praise and recognition tonight, it was he.
This is his stage.
This is his life.
This is his world, Se-ri thought.
She loved seeing him look so contented, and at ease.
Back in North Korea, Jeong Hyeok had always held his military rank with pride.
But there was always a subtle air of regret surrounding him.
He was the flower, that was meant to bloom in the field of classical music.
The conversation went on, until Se-ri noticed that both Jeong Hyeok and his friend Oliver were looking at her.
"Now, Jeong Hyeok, surely you weren't planning to go off without introducing this lovely lady?"
Momentary uneasiness gripped Se-ri; what should she be saying? Did this friend of Jeong Hyeok's know other North Korean students too?
She wasn't quite sure, but it wouldn't do if he accidentally let slip that Jeong Hyeok was seeing herself.
What story should they be telling-
"She is my fiancée."
His reply came so proudly and casually, without a trace of hesitance, as if it was the most natural thing to say.
The last time he had openly referred to her as his fiancée was when he had to tell a white lie to save her from certain death at the hands of Jo Cheol Kang.
This time, with the engagement ring snugly on her finger, it was no lie.
"I am Sam-Sook. Choi Sam-Sook." Se-ri quickly added, borrowing the name of the famous North Korean singer yet again.
Jeong Hyeok's eyes widened by a fraction, before his lips pursed into a tight line with valiant effort in holding laughter back.
"It's my pleasure," A warm hand was extended. "Oliver Bennett. Jeong Hyeok and I were classmates here in Switzerland years ago."
