5 months old
"Jagiya, Jagiya...he's almost there..."
"I know, I'm seeing this, Yeobo!" Se-ri squealed in delight, clutching Jeong Hyeok's arm as they watched their baby try to roll over. "Jeong Hwan, you can do this! Just a little bit more!"
"Just a little bit..you're almost there, little boy..." The proud father was holding on to his phone with his other hand, capturing the moment on video.
With his tiny button nose scrunched up in exertion, the baby boy successfully rolled over on his Parklon mat, eyes widening in surprise as his parents erupted in whoops and cheers.
At five months of age, Ri Jeong Hwan officially rolled over for the first time.
To Ri Jeong Hyeok and Yoon Se-ri, their son might as well have won an Olympics gold medal.
"Did you get that on video? Did you get that?" The heiress asked excitedly, to which the pianist replied.
"Yes, yes. Including the part where you asked if I captured it." Jeong Hyeok laughed.
"Oh my goodness, Yeobo, isn't our Jeong Hwan the smartest little baby on earth?" Se-ri cooed, leaning forward to pick her baby up, planting kisses on those chubby cheeks.
"Absolutely! Our precious Jeong Hwan is the best baby ever. Aren't you, little buddy?"
Jeong Hyeok, who previously had doubts about himself being a good dad, would never have thought that he would be so completely invested in his new role as a father.
Everything in his current life was about Jeong Hwan, Se-ri and his part-time teaching role at the university's piano department.
He knew he had a lot to be grateful for, but he couldn't help but wish for that little bit more.
Watching on endearingly as Se-ri nuzzled Jeong Hwan's tummy, kissing him repeatedly, Jeong Hyeok couldn't help but wonder if this was how his mother had felt back then when he first hit his milestones as a baby.
He missed her terribly.
Tears welled up in Jeong Hyeok's eyes, and he simply settled for a smile when Se-ri leaned over to give him a hug.
"Awww, just look at our proud papa. We love you."
Of course he was touched to witness Jeong Hwan's milestone, but Se-ri probably didn't guess the true reason behind his tears.
It was alright.
He saw no purpose in telling her more, for such knowledge would only serve to bring her the guilt and sadness that she did not deserve.
He would be alright.
He was always alright.
