Annd here we fucking go. . .
-----------------------------------------------------------------
An amused chuckle behind me made me pause slightly.
''What's your name citizen?'' Golden asked, His voice a lot gentler than I had expected.
''I don't see how my name is so important'' I muttered back as I went back to walking deeper into the alley.
There was a sigh before I felt a hand being placed on my shoulder.
''I'm golden, And you are?'' He tried, Clearly trying to use the polite route to get my name.
''I don't have time for this'' I muttered, My concern was growing when there still wasn't any sign of Daxon.
Did they kidnap him or something?
'Is it even considered kidnapping when the one being nabbed is fully grown?' Tene mused quietly before instantly getting smacked upside the head from the feel of it.
I did my best to not wince at the smack.
''Alright, How about you tell me who you're looking for?'' The hero asked, Following behind me from the sound of it.
Sighing, I kept walking.
''Daxon, Daxon Brige. . . I think'' I said, A bit unsure on the last name part.
I glanced back at the hero in annoyance as he let out another small huffed chuckle.
''Did he have silver and black hair?'' Golden asked as he caught up with me.
''I guess. . .It looks more salt and pepper though'' I muttered as I made it to the part of the alleyway I had used to duck out a small side way.
I looked down each alleyway frowning as I did so.
'So. . .The hero is proving pointless and a hinderance, Why don't we lose him?' Eige asked quietly.
I could tell my dragons were searching as well but from the shadows.
''I'm sorry to tell you this, But you're a little late'' Golden started before I spun around to face him.
''What do you mean by that.'' I demanded, My concern and fear leaking into my voice.
Fucking hell please don't tell me he died. . .
''I found him earlier. . .He's alright and he's been escorted to safety'' Golden said, His warm velvety voice soothing my fraying nerves a bit.
'Liar' Cali supplied quietly before suddenly there was another crashing sound above us.
''Corbin!'' I could have sworn I heard Golden shout in surprise as I looked up just in time to see the side of the building toppling over, The walls that had kept it up having been severed by one of the battling super's powers.
I pulled shadows forwards before the feeling of my dragons melting away filled my mind.
What. . .
Before I could do anything to defend myself against the toppling wall, A familiar serpentine shadowy dragon curled up over me.
I felt a bit of pain spread out across my back and shoulders as Gloaming's tail slowly curled around my body as the air filled with dust and who knows what else as the wall finished collapsing into rubble around and on top of us.
I coughed quietly and covered my mouth as the mixture of dust and who knows what else started to fill my lungs, Cutting off my oxygen.
After a few more seconds, There was silence.
''Gloaming? You alright?'' I asked quietly, Raising my head as much as I could with the dragon above me.
'I will be fine.' His deep echoing voice snapped in my mind, Sounding a bit annoyed.
Sighing, I sat down on the ground, Reaching out to my shadows as I did so.
''Are you upset?'' I asked quietly as I started to move some of the rubble very slowly with my shadows.
'Yes.' Was his simple response.
''Is it because I was speaking with a hero?'' I asked, Slowly creating a small space within the rubble for us to sit in that way Gloaming wouldn't have to hold up the rubble forever.
'No'
''Am I going to get more then Single word responses from you?''
'Maybe'
''Gloam. . .Will you please tell me why and how I've annoyed you?'' I asked, Leaning back against the dragon, My head resting on his side.
I could feel the tangle of emotions the dragon was feeling echoing like hollow shadows inside my chest.
'You did it again Corbin' He muttered, His voice hollow sounding now.
''Did what?'' I asked, Looking up in the direction of the dragon's head.
'You broke the promise again.' He muttered, A hurt sounding note in his voice.
''The- Oh. . .'' I whispered, Remembering halfway through my question exactly what promise he meant.
I had a habit of throwing myself towards harm for random people.
The dragons had oh so helpfully dubbed it my 'savior complex'.
I for one didn't like the name seeing as I had a feeling it was an actual complex and I for one didn't want my dragons calling my stupidity that.
It had gotten so bad that at one point when I was younger I had nearly died at the hands of someone I thought had loved me.
Gloaming had made me promise I wouldn't go that far for someone else, Least of all someone I don't truly know.
''I-. . .I shouldn't have made that promise. . .It's not fair to you for me to keep breaking it. . .'' I whispered quietly to the dragon before there was the sound of shifting rocks around us.
I could feel the concern from him making it's way to the top of his emotion tangle before he closed me off.
I winced slightly as suddenly, Burning pain spread across my side.
Light. . .Light's hitting Gloaming's side. . .
'It's Salt and Pepper' I could have sworn I heard Gloaming mutter before he moved, His coiled body unfurling just enough so I could see the blindingly bright bands of light that were breaking through the rubble, Destroying some of the shadows inside here.
''Hold on, I've got you'' I heard golden say, His bands of light moving around both Gloaming and I in a very painful ball of light.
'Ow'
