So uh. . .Things don't remain peaceful. . .
----------------------------------------------------------------
My nerves were fraying by the time afternoon finally rolled around.
I felt tired and very drained, I was assuming it was my lack of sleep not only last night but these past nights as well.
However, Chugging a heavily caffeinated drink did nothing to this annoying exhaustion.
So, At my lunch break, I slowly made my home through the city, My equally tired dragons curled up tightly in my bag.
Lily was back at the Coffee shop, Kate had insisted that she keep Lily at least for the day.
That woman loved kids, Hated the idea of actually having kids herself, But she loved watching over other people's kids.
A small smile formed on my face.
When we were younger, We ended up cancelling so many plans because some parent or another asked Kate to babysit for them and she refused to let the kids down.
Pausing, I covered a yawn, Tears forming in my eyes thanks to the sheer exhaustion I was feeling.
Shaking my head slightly, I pushed my sunglasses back up to their place before continuing towards home.
My progress was stopped yet again very shortly after it started however.
I stumbled backwards as two powered people crashed into the sidewalk.
Golden. . .
My eyes widened as I watched with surprise as the villain holding him down slowly stood up, The hero frozen in place below him.
I quickly ducked down a nearby alleyway just before the villain could see me.
People were running away in panic, Screaming at the top of their very annoying lungs.
'Oh ho hum, A hero's done' Tene said snidely from inside the bag.
'They're done with what?' Cali asked innocently, Just waking back up.
'Life. . . Hopefully' Tene answered back darkly.
I was tuning out the dragons as I looked around the corner, Pulling my shadows up around me like a body suit.
It made it hard for me to see when they blocked my face, But at least I was hidden.
'He's new. . .' Eige whispered quietly, Having stuck his head out of the bag to take a look at the other villain.
''He seems familiar. . .'' I whispered quietly as I watched the well dressed villain take a step away from the frozen hero.
Why isn't he getting up?
Frowning at the familiar uncomfortable feeling I got being near the other villain.
I know this feeling but. . .Why can't I place it?
'Might be the same reason we can't place Golden's voice. . .' Eige supplied helpfully.
''And that reason is?'' I whispered quietly to the dragon as I moved to a better position to assess what was going on out on the sidewalk.
The hero was still seemingly frozen in place, He wasn't even struggling.
'How would I know? I'm just saying, They seem similar enough that it might in fact be the same reason' Eige responded before Tene interjected.
'Aye, Shouldn't we be, I don't know, Running away right now?' Tene asked, Sounding a bit annoyed.
I glanced down at the dragon hiding in the bag with Cali, 'Why'd we run? Can't we go say hi?' Cali asked, Poking his head out of the bag.
''. . .We'll go. . .Deal with them, Duck back into the bag you guys'' I whispered to the dragons, Checking to make sure my shadows were shielding my face.
I could feel Tene's disapproval as I stepped back out onto the sidewalk, Needing to concentrate a fair bit as the afternoon sun kept trying to evaporate my shadows, Causing my shield of shadows to ripple like a sickening ocean of oil.
Reaching out, I could feel some resistance from the shadows under the hero and the villain as I tugged on them.
This is gonna take a bit of energy. . .
Summing up my strength, I reached out and pulled the shadows up from the ground.
The Villain took a step back in surprise as the shadows coiled up around his legs.
Whatever was keeping the hero frozen in place seemed to be broken when the Villain's attention turned to me in startled shock.
''What in the-'' He started to say before the hero knocked the villain's legs out with a painful looking leg sweep.
I instantly stepped back into the shadows as quickly as I could as the hero summoned bands of light to wrap around the villain, Holding him down.
Wincing, I squinted my eyes, His light bright enough to make my eyes burn in pain even with my heavily tinted sunglasses.
The other villain let out and annoyed grumble before stilling, ''Very well, I surrender'' He said suddenly, His velvety voice sounding familiar, Just like Golden's does.
I narrowed my eyes slightly as I saw a smoky figure appear behind the hero.
Oh shit. . .
Stepping out of the shadows, I lunged forwards just as the smoky figure took form, About to strike Golden.
I took a moment to question, 'Why the hell am I helping the hero?', Before I pushed the figure away from the hero, Stumbling slightly as I did.
The hero spun around as the smoky figured started to turn to well, Smoke.
''Heck'' He muttered quietly before there was a quiet sound from where the Villain was.
We both turned to look only to see the Villain was gone, The bands of light broken on the ground.
I started to move away from the hero as he let out a tired sigh.
I didn't make it far before he looked up towards me.
'At least we're in the shadows now. . .' Eige pointed out before Golden approached us.
I started to raise the shadows around, Prepared to fight him if it came to it.
'We're screwed. . .Told you we should have run. . .' Tene grumbled quietly from the bag.
'Hewwo!' Cali greeted cheerfully, Drawing all of our attentions back to the hero in front of us now.
A blindingly annoying smile formed on his face as he looked down towards me.
''So we meet again'' He said warmly, Reaching out to try and rest his hand on my shoulder.
Ah great. . .Of course today couldn't be easy. . .
