Corbin's Pov again!

-----------------------------------------------------------

The past week had been a blur, Ace having kept me hopped up on the pain killers the entire time.

He apparently had an issue at home he had to deal with today though, Meaning he wasn't here to give me as high of a dose as he had been recently.

So today, I was actually lucid for once in a long, Long while.

And believe me when I say, I was more than ready to get out of here.

The nurses and the doctors on rotation at the time were very displeased with my choice to leave, But other then very seriously urging me to stay here and recover, They didn't stop me when I said I asked to leave.

I was tired, My connection with my dragons was shaky and my side faintly pulsed with pain every now and again, But other than that, I was feeling a lot better now that I was no longer is Ace's grasp.

While hobbling home, I sent a text to Ian, Letting him know I was heading home and asking him if he wanted to come over.

Honestly, I should have been paying way more attention to where I was walking instead of texting.

A small hiss of pain left me as I tripped over an extremely overgrown vine on the sidewalk, Nearly falling flat on my face.

The hell?

Glancing back at the vine in confusion, I readjusted my sunglasses before slowly sitting up.

That thing's moving. . .Ian. . .

Struggling back to my feet, I started to follow the vine back to it's source, My pain mostly forgotten now.

Is he in danger? He better fucking not be. I swear. I'm in no mood to be merciful.

The nearby shadows started to writhe about, Sensing my growing concern and urge to protect my boyfriend, Preparing for a fight.

Hurrying, I half ran/half jogged down the street, Following the vine, Ignoring the confused people on the street.

Turning the corner, My heart slowly started to still as I found the source of the vines.

An old building, It's entire front covered in windows that were slowly spilling flowers and plants from inside stood in front of me.

The old, Swaying wooden sign hung above an equally old door declared this place to be 'Florum locus'.

Ian's work?

Cautiously, I approached the door, Stepping over the large mesh of vines spreading out through it.

Ian lives in the apartment above here. . .Is he up there?

Hurrying, I stepped into the shop, Doing my best to avoid stepping on the vines that coated the floor.

'Stairs. To the left.' The rumbling voice of Gloaming directed.

Didn't even question his advice, Instantly making my way to the left side of the shop.

I wasn't able to use the stairs though seeing as a large cabinet was knocked over, Blocking the stairway leading upstairs.

Damn it. . .I'll use a window then.

I pulled shadows around me as I darted back outside, Hiding my face and shielding my still very tender side with a thick layer of shadow.

People were starting to gather and gawk at the plant coated building by now.

Shocked whispers arose from them when I emerged from the building, Arching my shadows up and around me as I scoped out an upstairs window.

Ignoring the gathered people, I used my shadows to pull me up to the nearest opened window.

The lights were off when I stepped inside.

If I thought the downstairs was out of control then I really needed to raise my standards for out of control.

Ian's apartment was filled with extremely overgrown plants that were slowly writhing back and forth around what appeared to be a large mass of tangled plants.

Gonna bet Ian's inside that tangled mass. . .

Cautiously, I approached the tangle, Slipping down to kneel at the edge of the twisting mass.

''Ian? Ian are you in there?'' I called out, Gently starting to untangle some of the writhing plants.

A small whimper was my only response.

That was enough of a response for me though.

''Ian, I am so sorry for what I'm about to do, But I need to make sure you're okay'' I apologized, Unable to untangle the plants.

Reaching my shadows out, I grabbed onto the plants wrapped around him and abruptly tore them away.

As soon as enough of them were torn away, I was able to grab my boyfriend and pull him from the pile.

Once he was free, I gently set him down on the ground, Looking him over.

He didn't appear wounded. . .But his eyes were unfocused and glassy.

''Ian? Ian can you hear me?'' I muttered, Gently cupping his face in my hands as I tried to get him to respond in any way.

''I doubt he's okay'' A familiar, Raspy warm voice said from by the window.

I spun around, Encasing Ian in shadows as I did so.

Daxon. He stood on the windowsill, Bands of light forming wings behind him, Extending from his costume.

''What did you do?'' I demanded of him, Moving to stand between Ian and him, Shielding my wounded partner.

He glanced over at my boyfriend, A concerned look on what I could see of his face.

''I didn't do anything to him. I was out on patrol, Teaching him the ropes when we were attacked by a villain. He didn't appear wounded so I brought him home to rest. . .'' Daxon explained, Making my heart sink with each word.

A frown took it's place on my face as I turned back around, Scooping up my sweetheart.

I had a feeling I knew exactly who attacked Golden and my boyfriend.

''What are you doing with him?'' Daxon questioned, Some ropes of light starting to form in his hand.

''I'm taking him to get help.'' I grumbled, My shadows spiking up as my side protested to carrying someone.

I had gotten mostly used to the dull pain, This abrupt spike of pain though. . .

Holding back my sounds of pain, I started to approach the window.

Much to my surprise, The hero stepped back, Letting me out of Ian's apartment.

''You don't have your dragons with you. . .'' He muttered as I stepped out next to him.

He sounded a bit concerned.

''Don't.'' I warned, Making my way up to the brightly lit roof, The hero following me like a lost puppy.

I'll deal with him after I get my flower some help. . .

Don't worry. . .A purely fluffy chapter is coming from all of this. . .

Anyways! Like always, Have a good day/night and find a better book! - fallen
