And he's still captured! (Also, A slightly late chapter)

----------------------------------------------------------

I waited in the cell, Fairly patently as I could feel Gloaming getting closer with ever second.

Closing my eyes against the bright lights in my cell, I concentrated on the connection between Gloaming and I.

He was getting closer.

'Is the sun rising?' I whispered to him, Worried that he might get burned up on his way to save me.

I was expecting a verbal answer from him, Instead, My world spun briefly before I was abruptly seeing through his eyes.

He was swimming through the air, In full sight of anyone who chose to look up.

Despite how he tended to swim/fly like a snake, His vision didn't even wobble.

The horizon was just barely starting to lighten, The sun still a ways away from rising.

'It's very bright here' I warned him quietly.

I heard a small huff from him before he answered, 'I'll just have to knock out the lights than.'

I was about to warn him about the heros here when a loud clanging sound snapped me out of my connection.

I opened my eyes slowly, Disoriented for a moment as my brain tried to catch back up with the mental band snap that brought me back to myself.

An exhausted masked person I assumed was another villain was roughly shoved into the cell opposite of me, A hero wearing a mostly red color scheme locked the door behind the villain.

''We'll get information out of you eventually. Rest while you can.'' The hero said sternly, His hand lingering briefly on the glass separating him from the other man inside.

The villain just scoffed quietly, Looking away from the hero.

The hero winced slightly before turning away from the other man.

He briefly glanced over at my cell before scowling.

He roughly hit the side of his fist into the glass separating me from him.

''Get off the damn floor. You're going to get sick.'' He snapped at me before storming out of the cell block.

Well. . .That's the first time I've ever been snapped at for something like that. . .

Looking back up, I noticed the villain across from me was sitting on the little white bed we both had in our cells, His head hung down slightly, Resting in his hands.

''You alright?'' I asked, Moving a little closer to the glass.

He glanced up at me, We stared at each other for a moment before he actually answered.

''I'm alright. . .'' He said slowly, His voice surprisingly quiet and crackling sounding, As if he wasn't used to speaking often.

He stared at each other a while longer, His brows furrowed slightly before he got up, Moving to stand at his glass wall.

''How's your powers treating you?'' He asked slowly, His eyes trained on my.

He think's I'm a hero?

The phrase he used was a code one that villains use to figure out if someone else is actually a villain or someone trying to deceive them into thinking so.

Every villain group had their own personal rendition of it, However, The normal one hadn't been figured out yet so we tended to stick with it whenever we met someone new who we weren't sure about.

''Can't complain'' I answered back calmly, My eyes locked on his.

That was the response because really.  . We never were allowed to complain about our powers. . . After all, No one other than another villain would listen to us. . .

I saw the other villain's shoulders relax slightly.

''How's the weather out there?'' I asked.

Translation, How many dangers should I expect to see?

''Lots of lightening, Some thunder, In general it's rather stormy, Can't see the stars'' He answered back, A sympathetic look on his face as he spoke.

Lightening stood for known dangers, An example would be a hero, Thunder stands for possible dangers, In other words, Someone you aren't sure on their standing.

Rather stormy meant it was dangerous in general, The can't see the stars bit was the saddest part, That was another way of saying that there appeared to be no escape routes.

I nodded slowly, Mentally checking on Gloaming's position.

He was getting close.

''I'm bleeding shade, And you?'' I asked, Briefly dropping the code words to be polite.

The older villain gave me a small sad smile, ''I'm Phantom break'' He said before pausing.

He placed his hand on the glass, His chestnut eyes locking with my shades, ''I'd offer to shake your hand, However, Unless you can phase through glass I think a wave will have to do'' He said, Giving me a wave as he spoke.

I grinned back at him, Waving back.

'I'm here. . .' A gravely voice whispered into my head.

My heart soared at those two simple words.

''I think I see a star'' I called out to the other villain.

His eyes widened slightly before he inclined his head, Asking for me to continue.

''Better stand back and prepare for a bomb drill'' I instructed.

Stand back and cover your head.

He gave me a nod before backing up and sitting down, His legs moving so his knees were touching his chest, His hands moving to cover his head.

I backed up and did the same.

It was a damn good thing to.

The lights above us surged before surprisingly enough, Blowing out.

Thankfully, Only a few shards of glass fell down onto us.

Slowly, I got up, My heart surging with happiness as I was once again surrounded by pure, Solid, Unbreaking darkness.

Reaching out to my powers, I didn't bother with the time or care it takes to pick the lock on my cell.

Instead, I rammed the shadows inside the lock around until I heard a snap sound.

Looking around, I could tell that the other Villain couldn't see for shit in the darkness.

For me, I could see everything still, The world just looked a little darker and completely colorless.

Pushing open the now broken door, I walked over to his cell, Repeating the same motion.

At the snap sound, He looked back up, Slowly getting up off the floor.

He brushed a few shards of glass off himself before approaching me.

''Shadow powers?'' He guessed.

I nodded first before remembering he couldn't see me, ''Yup'' I said, Reaching out to gently grab his hand so I could lead him out of there.

I could hear so much commotion and screaming from the floor above us.

Please don't get killed Gloaming. . .

-----------------------------------------------------------
