Chapter 90: Rambling

:D Something interesting. . .

I finished up brushing my teeth as Daxon and Ian got into bed together, the three of us already in nightclothes.

Cali and Eige already curled up in the closet on a nest made of fluffy blankets, swiftly on the way to their dreamless sleep.

''You two are sure you don't mind me staying over tonight?'' Daxon questioned softly yet again, his gaze turning to me as I joined them in bed, settling down on the other side of Ian, doing my best not to stare at our new addition's chest since he wasn't wearing a shirt.

'Quite a sight for the eyes' Eige purred out, his comment making both Ian and I flush slightly before my flower cleared his throat, drawing Daxon's attention.

''You're part of our relationship silly, of course we don't mind you joining us. Plus, you need to be here if Brion needs a familiar face'' Ian assured quietly, gently patting the other man's shoulder his face stilled dusted with the prettiest shade of pink.

Daxon smiled slightly at my boyfriend, loosely wrapping his arms around the blonde's waist before tugging him down to the bed.

I watched with a slight tinge of jealousy as our newest addition placed a gentle and chaste kiss to Ian's lips as I laid down as well, a slight frown on my face.

'Nighty night! Sweet dre-' Cali called out, his well wishes trailing off into silence as he fell quickly into sleep, the quietest little snore escaping the little dragon.

Swallowing down the bitter feeling, I just mentally shrugged off the jealousy and snuggled into my boyfriend's side as well, a smile twitching at my lips as he squirmed about until he could tuck an arm under my neck, his fingers threading into my hair as Daxon lifted the blankets up over the three of us.

Leaning over, I placed a quick and gentle kiss to my flower's neck, making him squirm before settling down, whispered 'sweet dreams' being exchanged between the three of us.

The sky outside was still dark when I woke up, blinking blearily in the dark as I tried to figure out what woke me.

'Corbin! Hurry!' Tene hissed out in my mind, an urgency to his voice that made me remove myself from our bed as quickly and quietly as possible without disturbing my boyfriends, my brain still not fully up but my body running on auto pilot.

Stepping out of my room, I was greeted by a mildly concerning sight. . .

Brion was sitting up on the couch, breathing hard, his fingers digging into his hair, his eyes wide and staring forwards blankly as he trembled slightly, not looking okay in the slightest.

Okay. . .Um. . .Well shit, what do I do exactly?

My brain was working double time to figure out what to do despite still being half asleep.

Cautiously, I approached him as I reached out to my shadows.

''Hey, hey there, what are you doing up? Do you need anything?'' I asked quietly, stepping into his field of view as I spoke, assuming seeing someone would calm him.

That. Was my first mistake.

My second, came not long after.

Upon hearing my voice, his panicked gaze snapped to me, his eyes glazed, as if he wasn't awake and instead was in a waking nightmare.

Something I should have taken as a warning.

Not even a second later, dagger like gusts of wind formed above him before launching towards me, making my heart nearly stop in my chest.

Oh shit-

My shadows snapped to obey me. . .

But not quickly enough to block all of the wind daggers.

One slipped through. . .Heading straight towards my head, my brain barely recognizing how royally screwed I was.

Oh this is going to hurt. . .

I closed my eyes, bracing myself for the coming pain. . . Or death because, that was looking sharp as hell.

Only. . .To feel nothing.

Cracking an eye open, I expected to find Brion had regained enough control to recognize me and held back his power.

Instead, he was staring at me in horror. . .His gaze unseeing. . .As if he saw someone else in my place.

That. . .Can't be good. . .

'No shit Sherlock! Do something!' Tene hissed out quietly as he leapt out from his hiding spot on top of the ceiling fan, where he had been posted to watch over our guest, fleeing under the couch.

''no. . .no no no. . .Please no. . .'' Brion was whispering as his wind powers started to go haywire, knocking things off the walls and starting to rattle anything secured.

Tene ran for cover as I extended my shadows, blanketing everything and everyone in the room with them. . .Securing the area to minimize any destruction from the other man.

''Hey, hey hey now, Shhhh. . .I don't know who you think I am, who you see me as. . .but it's going to be okay'' I murmured in as soothing of a tone as I could manage, just trying to keep the other man listening to me long enough to calm him down.

I had no clue what I was doing. . .But it seemed to be working? So I just continued to talk.

As I quietly rambled to him, it finally sunk in the reason why his powers didn't hurt me. . .

And so. . .With my quiet rambling, I started to explain destined partners to Brion.

Brion and I silently sipped on some coco as the sun rose on the horizon.

The few broken items from the night already cleaned up and tossed away.

The other man had calmed eventually, actually listening to me as I re-explained the destiny thing.

After that, both of us fell into silence. . .The other man clearly having much to think over. . .And I was very tired.

I wasn't sure how much time had passed, but eventually, the other man fell into sleep, laying partly on top of me as I set both of our cups up, the two of us laying down together on the couch.

The other man was oddly tense for the longest time as he dreamed, twitching and flinching slightly.

But finally, with me just sitting there. . .A hand resting on his shoulder. . .He calmed down.

. . .I am so going to be tired for my morning shift.

'That's. What you got from all of this?' Tene demanded.
