Chapter 59: A long walk

I was reluctantly led out of my home and down the street, My dragons hidden away in my bag as the villain next to me kept glancing over at me.

He and the once hero now turned. . .Puppet? were on either side of me, Keeping me essentially trapped.

''Why haven't you dissolved those shadow snakes of yours?'' He questioned, An eyebrow arched as he spoke.

He was walking with his back straight and his arms folded calmly behind said back.

He looked like someone shoved a rod up his spine or some shit.

It wasn't helping him fit in at all. . .

''They can't be. . .And I don't want to, They're sentient and sapient. . .'' I explained coldly, Hunching my shoulders slightly as I tried to make myself less noticeable.

''Hmm. . .So they're not the side effect of the drug are they?'' He questioned curiously, Reaching his hand out to lightly touch the small of my back.

''Stand up straight, You don't want to ruin your posture'' He chided quietly as I moved away from his touch.

I arched an eyebrow at that before very slowly raising my hand, Flipping him off very calmly.

'Is he like eighty or some shit? No even remotely young person cares about posture' Tene spoke up, Just loud enough so me to hear.

'He does have streaks of grey in his hair. . .' Eige pointed out, Drawing my dragon's attentions to his hair.

'Molly had grey in her hair because of her ghost person powers. . .Maybe it's the same for him' Cali pointed out.

''They're not a side effect of anything'' I grumbled out, A little offended that he'd imply such a thing.

''Ah so you had them before you got the shot. . .Good'' He murmured happily, His pleased, Velvety voice setting me on edge.

''Why do you care anyways? You didn't care that I didn't want it to begin with so why'd you care if it had any side effects?'' I pointed out coldly, Turning my full attention towards the sidewalk in front of us and the people passing on either side, Not caring about the situation I was in.

''Oh shade. . .Of course I care, But you see, What I'm trying to do is for the greater good so it had to be done'' He had the balls to say such a thing all the while sounding gently concerned.

''You keep saying that yet you haven't once explained why you think kidnapping people and forcefully giving them experimental drugs is 'for the greater good' '' I pointed out, Refusing to look in his direction.

He sighed, Running his fingers through his hair as he stared up at the sky above, Shaking his head slowly.

''You're a villain . . .You know first hand how unfair the world is to people with powers that are seen as unacceptable, How dangerous it can be for those who have no powers. . .Most everyone that is. . .Surely you have seen the pain and suffering children with certain powers have to go through. . .It will make the world a whole lot better if powers are removed fully from every person. . .Permanently'' He explained calmly, Looking over at me as he spoke.

My eyebrows were trying to take up real estate in my hairline by now as he spoke, My heart sinking.

''And what exactly gives you the right to decide the fate of every powered person in the world?'' I questioned coldly, Instinctually reaching down to rest my hand protectively over the bag my beloved dragons were hiding in.

''You're telling me you wouldn't have at any point in your life wished your powers gone?'' He asked gently, His voice setting me on edge.

He was trying to sooth me. . .That wasn't rubbing me the right way considering what he was talking about currently.

''The choice of your words are rigged to make me answer yes. Of course I wanted to have my powers removed at one point. But I sure as hell don't want them removed now.'' I growled out, Many of the nearby shadows curling out in upset tendrils.

''Would you prefer if I reworded the question? Would it be better if I asked if you had instantly wanted your powers back after they had been removed?'' He questioned in his annoyingly gentle velvety voice.

I stopped in my tracks, Turning to face him as he slowly turned around, Clearly curious as to why I had stopped.

''Something the matter?'' He questioned with faked innocence.

'. . .Corbin. . .You did instantly want us back right?. . .You didn't. . .Consider. . .' Eige asked hesitantly, Sounding wounded that I hadn't instantly said I had wanted them back.

'Eige, Now's not the time' Tene chided, Sounding equally hurt though.

''I'm going back to my apartment. If you follow me I'm stabbing you'' I grumbled out at him before turning and starting to storm back towards my home.

''Corbin, We don't have to stay on this topic if you don't want, There are many things we need to discuss anyways'' The other villain called out, Making my already pounding heart freeze in horror.

How the hell does he know my name?

Stiffly, I turned around to face him, An uncomfortable expression no doubt on my face.

''What'' I whispered, My heart racing as my dragons were deathly silent.

''I said, We have a lot of things we can talk about. . .Corbin'' He repeated, Lowering his voice so I'd have to pay close attention to him to hear what he said.

''How do you know my name?'' I questioned coldly, Hesitantly approaching him again so people wouldn't be able to easily listen in on our conversation.

What I could see of his features softened slightly at that point.

''That's one of the many things we can talk about. . .Why don't we get back to walking'' He murmured as I slowly shook my head.

''No, Come here, We'll speak in the alleyway'' I muttered, Storming over to the place I was choosing to speak with him in now.

''Quite a. . .Interesting place you picked to speak in. . .'' He said slowly as I snakes my shadows out, Blocking all exits, Trapping both him and his 'puppet' in here with me.

This has gone down way to weird a path. I need answers and I need them now. . .
