Ian's Pov~
------------------------------------------------------------
It was one in the morning and Corbin still wasn't back.
To say I was worried was an understatement.
The weeds that grew around Corbin's apartment were responding to my agitated state, Many of the spiky weeds were vining up the side of the rather large and run down apartment building.
I could hear some people outside letting out sounds of surprise and distress.
But honestly, I didn't give a damn.
None of the voices belonged to Corbin.
The plants could feel my distress, And they responded in kind, The sharp thorny plants outside were arching slightly to discourage anything coming close.
Eventually though, Something happened.
My plants started to give off a contented air as the nearly non existent light level in Corbin's apartment suddenly changed.
The window at the far end of Corbin's apartment was still open, Letting in the very bright light from the one and only Daxon, His light based wings brightening up the room.
Confused and very concerned about why he was here, I hurried to the window.
He didn't fight Corbin did he? Or is he here because Corbin got hurt. . .Or worse!
Pushing the window the rest of the way open, I got to witness first hand the shock that crossed Daxon's face before it was replaced swiftly with concern.
''Hey there buddy, So it's you who's causing the plants to go crazy 'round here'' Daxon murmured, Using the same tone of voice I had seen him use when he would speak with distraught victims.
I knew he wasn't just going to go away while I was still upset.
So, Reluctantly, I made a mental apology to Corbin before letting the hero into his apartment.
He looked, Concerned and perplexed as he took in the apartment, His wings disappearing and plunging the home back into darkness.
Letting out a sigh, He tugged off his mask, Most likely because I was more than familiar with his face by now.
''Based upon the fact you let me in, I take it you're not being held captive here'' Daxon commented, Clearly trying to coax me into conversation.
''N-No. . .This is Corbin's apartment. . .We were going to uh. . .spend some time together. . .'' I muttered, Trailing off slowly as I realized how badly I had fucked up.
Corbin would have no way of knowing Daxon was here, What if he came home using his powers or wearing his costume?
Then Daxon would find out about who he was. . .He might get hurt. . .
Which He I was referring to didn't really matter to me at that moment.
The salt and pepper haired man looked amused at my discomfort, Clearly assuming what I meant by 'Spend some time together' was something much more dirty.
''That explains a few things. . .I take it he is not here currently though'' Daxon guessed, Moving to place his hands on my shoulders, Stopping my nervous pacing.
I nodded at that, Staring up at him with wide eyes.
''Is he in danger?'' Daxon questioned, His voice low and gentle as he slowly got to the problem at hand.
Frowning, My distress slowly started to return, Noticing now that I had started to calm down for a while before I was reminded of my concern.
I can't just tell him. . .Can I? Corbin might get upset. . .He might get hurt. . .He might get hurt anyways. . .He might need help. . .
As my conflicted thoughts continued to spiral, The plants nearby reacted further to that, Many reaching in through the window.
A sigh reached my ears before very abruptly, Arms wrapped around me, Scooping me up off of the ground.
''Alright buddy, Let's just drop that topic for now, I'll ask you again when you're calmer, Okay?'' Daxon muttered next to my ear, Holding me firmly in his surprisingly strong arms.
Right. . .He used to be a firefighter. . .Makes sense why he's so strong. . .
I shakily nodded as he effortlessly carried me over to Corbin's couch, Gently setting me down on the old but soft seat.
Slowly, I brought my knees up to my chest as Daxon looked around, His brows furrowing slightly.
''Would it be okay to turn on some lights?'' He questioned, Changing the subject.
Hesitantly, I nodded, Watching as Daxon moved over to turn on the lights one by one.
I squinted slightly, Having gotten used to how dark Corbin keeps his house by now.
A frown worked it's way onto the dark eyed man's face as he finally got a good look at me.
''How long have you been up?'' He questioned, Placing his hands gently on either side of my face as he spoke.
''A while. . .Why?'' I asked, Leaning slightly into his touch when I realized how cool his rough hands were.
My head was starting to hurt a bit.
''Mm, You don't look that good'' He murmured, Giving me a small smile as he spoke, Coaxing an equally small smile out of me.
''Gee. . .Thanks'' I muttered, Closing my eyes as a tired smile remained on my face.
''Ian, Do you want to explain why you are so concerned over Corbin right now? Is he in any danger?'' Daxon questioned out of the blue.
Glancing towards the window, My eyes widened slightly as I noticed the sun was up now.
Corbin's still not back. . .Maybe. . .Maybe I should tell Daxon all about this. . .He might be upset but he might be able to help Corbin with what's going on. . .
Opening my mouth, I was about to spill the entire situation to the man before me, When the front door unlocked.
Shooting to move feet, I was about to rush and turn off the lights when Corbin stumbled into the apartment, Thankfully in regular clothes.
Regular clothes that had blood stains on them. . .
''Corbin?'' Daxon called out, Concern in his voice as he got up, Moving towards the bleeding boy at the same time as me.
''I-Ian, What happened? Why's he here?'' Corbin hissed out in pain, Leaning heavily on me as he spoke.
''I-I. . .It's a long story'' I whispered back to him as Daxon joined us, Helping me assist Corbin over to the couch.
He sat down heavily on the couch, His bag of dragons gently set down beside the couch as Daxon instantly lifted up Corbin's shirt, Applying pressure to the deep gash in the other boy's chest.
What the hell happened. . .
