And things go bad. Very quickly.

---------------------------------------------------------

I turned to face a rather well dressed Villain, He was wearing a dark red suit and black gloves.

His outfit did not look like it was built for running or anything other than just standing around looking pretty.

The top half of his face was hidden with a mask a lot like those from the phantom of the opera, The only parts of the mask that were gone were for the eyes and the lower half of his face.

I slowly raised my shadows, Arching them up around me only for them to almost instantly be evaporated by the setting sun's light.

Thankfully my dragons remained out of harms way in the nearby alleyway.

Thank goodness for cities and their insanely large buildings, Perfect for casting shadows. . .

''So you're the one kidnapping people. . .'' I muttered back, Taking a step away from the other villain.

The villain in front of me chuckled quietly, Shaking his head as he did so.

''I'm not kidnapping, I'm just. . .'' He started to say before I interrupted him.

''Last I checked, Taking people against their will was considered kidnapping.'' I bit out, Taking yet another step back.

This man was setting me on edge, Something felt familiar and dangerous about him and believe me when I say, I for one don't want to find out why.

The man in front of me was about to reply to that when a nearby scream made me jump.

I could see the other villain calmly look in the direction of the scream, His hands clasped together behind his back still.

A child was trashing around in the grip of one of the clones.

I heard the villain let out a disapproving hum, As if this wasn't as concerning as it was.

Screw it. I'll kill 'em in front of him.

While the clone was still close to the building, I snapped a shadow out, Stabbing it into the side of the clone before using it to split both it and the clone in half.

I watched as the kid ran back to the building he had been hiding in with his parents, The clone already turning to harmless smoke on the sidewalk.

The only response to that from the other villain was a small tsk-ing sound.

''Really wish you weren't so dead set on doing this'' The villain muttered, His velvety sounding voice making every single alarm go off in my head.

I waited briefly for one of my shadows to make a jab at that, However, The empty space their minds would take up still remained, Making my chest ache with how wrong it felt.

I need to make sure my dragons are okay. . .But I can't exactly leave without leading this creepy dude to them. . .

''Well, I know this is your 'terf' and all'' The other villain started, Doing air quotes around the word 'terf'.

As he spoke, He slowly started to walk towards me, Keeping just enough distance between the two of us that if we both reached out our fingers would barely even touch.

''However, I must ask you to not interfere, This may seem a little harsh but it will be for the better good soon enough'' The villain finished.

Geeze. . .That's a straight up an evil scientist 101 quote. . .

''Doesn't seem that good to me.'' I responded, Backing closer towards a wall.

Sure, If I had my back to a wall it'd be easier to corner me, However, The wall was casting a dark shadow, Meaning, Ammunition.

''Of course it doesn't yet, However, I assure you, This is for the better good'' The other villain said, His voice taking on an even gentler edge to it.

This whole time he had been speaking to me with a tone one would use for a frightened animal, However, Now it was like he was trying to reason with a hurt child

Why is it always the craziest villains who have gentle, Charming voices. . .

''Shame it's for the better good then, I'm a villain, Kinda supposed to be against all that peace and happiness shit.'' I said with clearly false sympathy.

Bullshit that any of this could be for the better good. If it's really a good thing, He could have used legal means to get it done.

The villain before me gave me a small, Clearly faked smile.

''I'm sad to hear that, I had hoped I wouldn't aggravate any of the native villains here. . .However, It looks like that's no longer the plan now is it?'' He. . .Asked?

I decided enough was enough.

Summoning my shadows, I raised the dark looming tendrils above my head before stabbing them towards the other villain, Like spears made of twisting endless darkness.

Before the destined lethal blow could happen, My shadows suddenly froze, Just barely touching his skin.

I felt my eyes widen, Confused why I had been un-able to hurt him.

Before I could think too much into this, I felt a weight settle down in my mind.

It wasn't my dragons, It wasn't anything that belonged in my mind.

I stumbled away from the amused looking villain, My shadows withering slightly in my growing panic.

''You know. . .Maybe our meeting is actually a blessing in disguise. . .'' The villain murmured thoughtfully as he approached me, The weight on my brain pressing even harder on my mind.

It wasn't hurting, But it wasn't right. . .I could see my vision darkening around the edges as I struggled to keep my eyes open, Fought to remain on my feet.

I hadn't even heard the villain stop in front of me, My mind too focused on not passing out to notice my surroundings.

Tene. . .Eige. . .Cali. . .Gloaming. . .

The last thought I had as the villain tilted my head up, Examining me, Was for my dragons safty.

I could feel my mind fading as the villain's dark blue gaze studied me, My mind drifting away, Filled with concern for my beloved shadows.

Please. . .Not like this. . .I refuse to die or let my dragons die like this. . .They deserve better. . .I. . .

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
