Back to Corbin's Pov. . .

--------------------------------------------------

The two heros had gotten lucky, Both fire fighters and police officers had shown up on the scene to check on the aftermath of the rogue hero's attack, The two heros ended up having to give a statement as the rogue hero. . .Blaze? was dragged away.

By the time the officers were done taking statements and the EMTs who had arrived had checked over everyone, It was late, The sun staining the sky with it's dying colors.

Ian was leaning heavily on me as my dragons hid in my bag and his shirt.

Daxon had left with the police squad carrying Burning Bitch, He had been sure to apologize profusely before leaving though.

I walked beside Ian as we headed towards my apartment.

The poor kid was stumbling every now and then thanks to how tired he was.

I had my arm wrapped around him as he continued to lean on me.

''Today's been a long day. . .'' Ian sighed out after a while, Looking up towards the sky as he spoke.

''Huh. . .That cloud looks like a heart. . .'' Ian whispered, Pointing up towards a cloud above, It's edges were stained pink and orange by the setting sun.

I squinted up at the still bright sky, After a few seconds of searching, I spotted the slightly warped somewhat heart shaped cloud.

''Huh. . .So it does. . .Very pretty Ian'' I muttered quietly to the sleepy boy.

'I think it looks more like a peach. . .' Tene muttered.

'You're just hungry' Eige answered back from inside my bag.

I started to tune out my dragons as they started to chat about what they wanted to eat.

My gaze drifted down from the sky and back to Ian as we continued to walk together.

He was tiredly listening to my dragons chat with each other, A small peaceful smile on his face.

I could feel some of the tension leaving my shoulders, A sigh escaping me with a small puff.

The sound drew Ian's attention to me.

He smiled tiredly up at me, His head nodding slightly every now and then as he struggled to stay awake.

Slowly, I paused, Ian following suite.

We were halfway to my apartment, However, Ian was fading too quickly to make it from what I could tell.

''Hey, Ian?'' I started, Leaning close to him as I spoke.

I gave him a small smile before moving one arm under his legs, The other to the small of his back.

''Wh-'' Ian started before wrapping his arms around my neck as I scooped him up in my arms.

He wasn't light, But considering we were almost the exact same height, I wasn't too surprised.

''What. . .Are you doing?'' Ian questioned, His face flushing bright pink as he trained his gaze on the buildings around us.

''Carrying you?. . .You didn't look like you were going to make it. . .'' I pointed out, Realizing I should have most likely asked him permission first before just picking him up.

'No duh. Who the hell just randomly picks someone up without asking them first?' Tene demanded, Poking his head out of Ian's shirt.

My face briefly stung in pain before Tene ducked back into the safety of Ian's shirt's shadows.

Ian let out a huffed chuckle before slowly leaning in closer to me, His eyes drifting closed.

''Thanks Corbin'' He whispered quietly, Starting to drift off to sleep.

I held him close, Glaring at the few people who stared at him intently as we passed them.

Sighing, I held him close, Protectively.

The sun had finished setting when we made it back to my apartment complex.

'So. . .How are we going to open the door since both of your hands are occupied?' Tene questioned.

'We can use our powers' Eige explained from inside my bag as I reached my shadows out towards the door in front of us.

It was dark enough inside my room to be able to use them like one would their own hand.

I felt some of the tension leave my shoulders as I stepped inside my 'house', The comforting, Familiar darkness engulfed me.

As soon as I stepped inside, My dragons darted out of their hiding spots as I made a bee line for the bedroom.

Stepping inside, I did my best to drop Ian onto the bed as carefully as I could, However, Based upon the fact that he started to wake up, I guessed I didn't do a good enough job at setting him down gently.

''Mmm, Corbin?'' Ian mumbled out, Squinting up at me as he started to wake up, Scrubbing at his eyes as he spoke.

I smiled down at him, Gently brushing some of his hair out of his face.

''Hey . . .'' I whispered back as he moved closer to the middle of the bed.

A small blush had formed on his face as he avoided looking me in my eye.

Why's that?

He was laying down in a weird way when I joined him in bed.

''You alright?'' I asked him quietly, Moving closer to him as I spoke.

He blushed an even darker shade of pink as he nodded quickly.

''Yeah. . .Yeah I'm fine'' Ian assured me, His voice squeaking slightly as he spoke.

'Cannonball!!' Cali chirped out suddenly, Leaping for the bed, A happy smile on his face as

''Cali no!'' I started to shout but I was too late, Cali landed right on top of Ian with a soft sounding thud.

Despite that, Ian ended up wincing slightly, Curling into a ball.

''Oh Cali!, Ian you okay?'' I questioned, Worriedly moving Cali off of Ian's groin.

Said dragon had enough sense to lower his head in shame.

'Am sorry. . .' Cali squeaked out as I worriedly rubbed at Ian's back.

''I-it's. . .It's okay Cali'' Ian gasped out, Raising his head just enough to give the little dragon a strained smile.

''Are you alright?'' I asked as Ian clung to my arm, His breathing a little ragged.

''I'll. . .I'll be fine'' He whispered, Resting his head on my arm as he spoke.
