Annnd here things go
-------------------------------------------------
Opening the door to my apartment, I reached out and did something I haven't done for my entire life. . .Turned on the lights in the apartment.
Despite never using them, I always made sure there were working light bulbs in. . .Most of the lights in here, so it wasn't a surprise when they turned on.
It was surprising to see that they were a soft, comforting warm white shade, making the entire apartment seem cozy and small.
Huh. . .Well then, at least they all match.
It will be annoying to have to wear my glasses inside all the time. . .And not be allowed to keep my dragons out. . .But hopefully it'll be worth it.
Glancing back as I made my way to the kitchen, I watched as Daxon and Ian gently helped Gust inside and to the nearby couch.
''So. . .Anyone hungry? We've got sandwiches and pasta and berries?. . .'' I started to slightly awkwardly offer, unsure how to comfort our guest who was just staring blankly forwards.
''Why don't we try eating, alright Brion?'' Daxon murmured, his voice taking on a gentle but firm tone that was very interesting to me.
'Not the time Corbin!' Eige chastised from inside my bag, making a slight flush tint my face.
Ian gave me a weird look at that, but luckily, both Daxon and Gust. . .Brion, failed to notice my brief flush.
Clearing my throat quietly, I turned to rummage around in the fridge, mostly using the distraction as a chance to try and get my blush under control.
''So. . .What's everyone wanting?'' I asked, grabbing and munching on a strawberry as I waited.
There was silence for a moment before Daxon spoke up.
''The berries sound like a light and easy option'' He decided, as I pulled the fruit out of the fridge, grabbing some liquid caramel as well.
Pre-sliced apples, grapes and some strawberries.
Yum. . .
It wouldn't be the most filling, but it was finger food and it was a light and easy option to start with.
As I made my way back over to the couch, I heard both Daxon and Ian quietly whispering to Brion, their voices a quiet, soothing murmur.
The moment I sat down, I was relieved of the now plated fruit and caramel cup by Daxon.
''Alright, do you think you can eat on your own?'' He asked our guest in 'that voice', easily drawing Brion's dazed attention.
''Um. . .I. . .Wasn't allowed to-'' He haltingly answered, a weary look on his face as he looked down at the fruit plate Daxon was holding.
Wasn't allowed to? Eat by himself or just eat in general??
''Would you like to try?'' Daxon questioned gently, his unoccupied hand coming up to gently cup Brion's face as he grabbed an apple slice with his other hand, setting the plate down on his thigh, dipping the slice in some caramel before offering it to our guest.
I. . .Didn't really like the stab of jealousy that pierced my heart at that sight but. . .It didn't really matter.
He's hurt. . .This is incredibly childish of me to be jealous of a wounded man being treated gently.
'. . .We might need to talk about this later when we're alone' Eige whispered quietly from the bag that now rested at my feet.
Turning my attention back to Brion and Daxon, I watched as my. . .Boyfriend? Fed our guest slices of fruit dipped in caramel by hand, giving some to Ian as well while Brion was chewing.
I was sitting on the other side of Daxon. . .Furthest away from Brion. . .So. . .It kind of made sense that I wasn't getting any bits of fruit.
Deciding that just sitting here, being bitter wasn't helping anyone, I got up and headed into the bedroom to get some spare blankets and pillows from the closet for our guest to use.
Setting my dragon's bag down at the end of the bed, I rummaged around in the closet while my little shadowy Lung dragons crawled out of their container.
'So. . .You wanna talk about this?' Eige whispered quietly, being the only dragon to cautiously approach me, Cali and Tene choosing to climb onto the bed instead.
''I fail to see what we have to talk about.'' I muttered quietly, grabbing the warmest blankets I could find on the closet shelf while I spoke.
I know I shouldn't feel jealous, we just added him to our relationship too. Maybe it's just that throwing me for a loop. . .
'Yeah we really should be talking this out with, you know. The other partners in this relationship?' Tene griped from the bed, making me groan in annoyance.
''Tene, Eige. Listen. I am. . . Mostly sure that I am okay, should I think that anything is wrong, I will discuss it with them, but right now, I'm not going to bother them, Okay?'' I requested of my own dragons. . .Because apparently not even my own powers want to listen and obey me.
''You know, you three are acting more and more like Ian's powers every day'' I commented, A fair bit amused by the offended looks that flashed across their faces.
'How exactly is our concern about your potentially distressing relationship bad?' Eige questioned icily, disliking me comparing them to Ian's terrible and bad powers.
What.
'Shh, before you protest, yes your relationship is potentially distressing, you're upset right now and if this gets worse. Because you're not talking to your partners like adults. Then it will become a distressing relationship.' Eige continued to chastise, making me roll my eyes.
''Eige, with all due respect, now is not the time. We have a wounded man under our care right now. Emotions are high and I'm sleep deprived. This is not the time to be discussing potentially pointless things'' I grumbled out, my words causing my dragons to look down in shame.
A feeling of guilt twisted in my chest at that.
Why am I acting like this?. . .Is this why people aren't supposed to be sleep deprived??
''. . .Look, It's probably just me being overwhelmed with everything that's gone down these past few days. . .A new partner, the whole thing with the better day's project and now a guest who's been badly hurt by. . .Our potential other partner. . .It's a lot to take in. . .'' I whispered softly, closing the closet as I spoke, refusing to look at the hurt looks on my dragons' faces.
You just want the best for us. . .I know that, I'm just. . .A bit overwhelmed. . .
''I don't think this is anything. . .But, if it continues. . .Or these feelings get worse. . .I'll take your advice, alright? Now if you'll excuse me, I've been gone for a sufficiently suspicious amount of time now'' I excused softly, heading back out of the bedroom, my dragons watching me leave from the safety of the bed's shadows.

All the curve balls Corbin's been thrown are taking their toll. . .Don't worry, Brion's still gonna get cared for though.
Anyways! Like always, Have a good day/night and find a better book! - fallen
