''W-Who are you? W-Why did you help me?'' The kid asked, Her voice trembling as she spoke.

''Uh well, I'm Corbin and this little facehugger here is Caliginous'' I said awkwardly.

'Hewwo' Cali said cheerfully, Moving to hang upside down from my jacket.

''H-He's a facehugger!?'' She squeaked out fearfully, Moving backwards as best she could while sitting down on the floor.

''No! No, I was joking, Making a joke!'' I said hurriedly, Holding my hands up in a placating gesture.

''S-So he's not a faceh-'' She started to say before Cali swung himself backwards, Attempting to do a graceful back flip off of me.

He ended up releasing his tail too soon and proceeded to face plant into the floor.

I flinched slightly as a throb of pain spread out across my face, Head starting to hurt.

'What did Cali do now?' Tene demanded in my mind, His serpentine voice sounding annoyed.

  ''I-Is he okay?'' The little girl asked worriedly, Drawing my attention back to her as a headache started to form behind my eyes.

''Oh yeah, He'll be fine'' I muttered, Picking the confused dragon up by his tail.

'Why's Corbi upside down?' He asked innocently, His eyes slightly crossed as he gave me a confused look.

''Silly, You're the one upside down'' I muttered, Setting the purplish grey dragon back inside my jacket, A quiet 'Oki' coming from him as I did so.

''Who. . .Who are you talking to?'' The little girl asked slowly, Staring up at me from the floor still, Looking confused.

''Oh right, You can't hear them. . . Uh, My dragon, I can understand what he says. . . I know that sounds wei-'' I started to say before her eyes lit up with excitement.

''You can hear your creatures too??'' She interrupted, Her voice almost shouting as she sprung to her feet.

''Uh. . . Yeah. . .'' I said dumbly, Backing up slightly as she stood directly in front of me.

''Oh my goodness, I-I thought I was j-just weird'' She stuttered out joyfully, A few tears of relief in her eyes making the brownish color seem like stained wood.

'Is hooman hatchling sad?' Cali asked, Popping his head out of my jacket.

''I'm not sure. . . I'll ask'' I whispered to the worried little dragon before turning my attention back to the brown, Curly haired girl.

She was staring at me, Looking both eager and slightly confused.

''Cali wanted to know if you were sad'' I asked, Before I even finished she was shaking her head, A fragile smile on her face.

''No! You have no idea how happy I am! I thought I was the only one, I-I thought. . .'' She said, Trailing off slightly.

''. . . You were all alone in this?'' I finished for her, Understanding the feeling.

Her fragile smile slowly became stronger, ''Yeah. . . It's nice to know I'm not alone in this'' She whispered, Glancing back at the shadowy cocoons.

''If you don't mind me asking. . . What happened? Why did your powers attack you?'' I asked, Reaching out to my shadows, Prepared to check and see if her powers had settled yet or not.
