I had a slight spring in my step as I walked into work that morning.

Even Tene was in higher spirits than normal.

He only used twenty rather creative swears when some cranky woman bumped into us and started to berate us for being 'Brain dead morons'.

We were all happy thanks to a certain activity we did this morning.

. . .I managed to convince Ian to attack me with his powers.

Or well. . .Attempt to attack me.

His plants snapped to a stop mere inches in front of my face, Despite Ian insisting he was still trying to attack me.

With a bit of convincing, I even attempted to attack Ian only for the same result to happen.

Cali was relieved and overjoyed, Heck, We all were happy about this discovery.

However, We couldn't really chat for long as we both had to get to work.

So instead, We showered together and had breakfast before heading our separate ways, Promising to speak with each other as soon as we both were free to do so.

A small smile remained on my face as I stepped into the coffee shop I worked at, My joy having gone down a bit after being faced with the cranky and overly loud crowds of the heavily packed city.

Still, My mood was positive enough that Kate and Jake both noticed.

''Well you look happy, I was expecting you to be in a bad mood after yesterday'' Kate commented as my dragons sought out their hiding spots for the day.

My face heated up ever so slightly as I tied my apron in place.

''Ian decided to go home with me so. . .My day's started off nice'' I explained vaguely, Smiling happily as a peaceful wistful feeling settled over me.

Wonder if our days will start off just as nicely from now on. . .

'I wouldn't complain if they do' Eige commented from under one of the large booths nearby.

'Yeah? But what if he decides he doesn't want us? I mean, He's got a whole day to think of what's happened in the last less than twenty four hours' Tene muttered, Hiding in one of the air vents.

'Why must you always be so negative?' Eige questioned as Cali curled up tighter in my apron's pouch.

I rubbed at my little dragon through the fabric of my pouch.

''It's alright Cali, He's just being pessimistic like always'' I assured the worriedly shivering dragon.

'I'm not meaning to be pessimistic. . .I'm just trying to be realistic. . .How many times have people we've cared about just up and left us or we were forced to leave them?' Tene pointed out, His voice taking on a grim and sorrowful note.

No one said anything to that. . .

It was close to the afternoon when Daxon, Once again, Came to visit our little coffee shop.

This time though, The two heros were not with him.

He smiled warmly at me as he went over to order his usual from Jake.

Once he had received and paid for his coffee, He moved to sit on one of the stools on my side of the counter.

''Hello there small, Dark haired stranger'' He murmured warmly, His normally cheerful brown eyes looking tired and drained.

''Well you look like shit'' I commented, Lowering my voice and gentling my tone as best I could.

He looked exhausted and stressed.

I wanted to tease him since we had sort of started doing that when we would talk, However I didn't want to upset the clearly tired man.

He chuckled, Giving me a tired lopsided smile, One of his hands drifting out closer to mine.

''The past few days have been a bit tough'' He admitted quietly, His voice barely above a whisper.

Every now and then we'd have someone who'd come in and unload their troubles on us, So Daxon letting this little bit slip was nothing new to me.

Looking around at the once again, Mostly empty coffee shop, I decided I'd have enough time to chat with him.

''Because of the flaming bitch?'' I questioned quietly, A little amused at the arched eyebrow I got from the salt and pepper haired man in front of me.

''Corbin, Language'' He chided tiredly, His fingers brushing against my hand gently.

His fingertips were surprisingly rough, No doubt from years of hard work.

I shrugged slightly before Eige suggested something just as good to me.

''Erm. . .Propter flammam Bitch?'' I questioned, Butchering the Latin a bit a I spoke, Having not tried to speak such words in a long time.

'Pretty sure that's how we're supposed to say it' Tene informed me.

 'Propter flammam Bitch!' Cali chirped out, Making me instantly regret saying something in a language Cali didn't know around him.

'Don't repeat that Cali, That has a bad word in it' Eige explained as Tene cackled.

While all that was happening, Daxon just stared at me in shock for a solid moment before he chuckled, Shaking his head.

''Yes. . .She is part of the reason. . .Another part is. . .Something that I can't speak about'' Daxon explained, Sounding somewhat regretful at the last part.

''You know. . .I've been kinda curious. . .What is it with you and fire bitch?'' I questioned when it appeared he wouldn't continue.

He choked slightly on his coffee, Having been mid sip when I had spoken to him.

''Corbin, Seriously, Language. Those who use crass language are often times seen as un-educated'' Daxon chided again, Sounding somewhat concerned as he placed his hand fully over mine now, Gently holding onto my wrist with his fingers.

I grimaced slightly at his loose grip, Not really liking the contact too much since many people had grabbed me by my wrists to trap or hurt me before in the past.

He noticed my grimace and released my wrist, A small sad and amused smile on his face.

''You really still haven't figured it out yet have you huh?'' He questioned, Sounding very amused.

Sighing, I crossed my arms.

''If you're not gonna answer my question then I'll just ask someone else'' I responded as he continued to grin warmly at me.

''Quite surprising that you didn't know before and still don't know. . .I'm a hero Corbin, Sear was supposed to be my temporary apprentice. . .That and because of another young little plant hero. . .Are the reasons I came to this town'' Daxon explained as I stared at him, Not really hearing what he was saying as the pieces of this powered puzzle started to click into place.

Cali calling him Mr. Sunshine. . .Golden appearing around the same time he appeared in town. . .Him always hanging out with Heros. . .Ian acting so nervous around him. . .

Fucking hell. . .How did I not notice something so blaringly obvious. . .He's Golden. . .
