:) Lil' bit of angst in this chapter . . .
---------------------------------------------------------------
I didn't get to sleep for long before a call woke me.
Ian and my dragons were still asleep when I quietly snuck out of the apartment and into the bustling moonlit city.
Well. . .There were also street lights and the lights from passing cars and or lit up apartments, But the rooftops? Only the moon shone on them.
Across said rooftops I ran, Even though I'd much rather be in bed, Cuddling with my boyfriend while my dragons lay haphazardly about the room.
The 'Better days' project was back at their bullshit again, And since I almost exclusively fought them, I was contacted by grandpa and a few others to 'Please rescue the kidnapped children they just bought'.
So here I was. Running from rooftop to rooftop at a godforsaken time in the morning.
I wasn't going to hold my punches tonight.
Just as I was approaching the rebuilt sky scrapper, The light level on the rooftops started to change.
Oh boy. . .
I slowed down to a stop as Golden landed behind me.
''Corbin? What are you doing out?'' Daxon questioned, Sounding. . .Rather concerned. . .And maybe a bit annoyed.
''Got something to attend to'' I answered cryptically, Earning a tired sigh from the other man.
''Corbin please, Don't do whatever it is I know you're planning on doing'' Daxon murmured, Stepping closer until he was well within my personal space as he spoke.
I hummed quietly, Pretending to think about it for a moment before shaking my head.
''Can't do that I'm afraid'' I muttered back, Starting to move towards the sky scrapper again before a hand firmly grabbed onto my wrist.
''Why do you insist on constantly fighting them, They're good people working for the betterment of. . .Well, The world'' Daxon reasoned, Clearly trying to talk me out of this.
I stared at him for a moment before sighing and shaking my head, Reaching out to gently place my hand over his.
''Do you seriously believe them to be so good? Because I can prove to you they aren't.'' I muttered, Holding my head high as Daxon just shook his.
''Fine, But no one gets hurt and nothing gets destroyed, Okay?'' He sighed out, Reluctantly starting to follow me as I led him to a less well lit back door.
I could feel Daxon's disapproval as I used my shadows to. . .Violently open the door.
He didn't chastise me or anything though, So that was nice, Even though I could feel that he wasn't happy with me as I knocked out multiple people who we passed.
Well, At least he's not stopping me. . .
I led him deeper and deeper into the building, Knowing exactly where they always keep their 'test subjects'.
At the very last hallway, Beneath the building, I found the hidden and heavily barred door I knew I'd find.
''That's strange. . .This shouldn't be here. . .This looks like a fire hazard'' Daxon mused quietly as I very aggressively 'opened' the door.
I didn't bat an eye as the door skidded across the ground, Having been broken off it's hinges.
''Corbin.'' Daxon started to chide as I descended the shiny new metal staircase that led into the somewhat dimly lit room below.
