Tense chapter? Maybe?
--------------------------------------------------
Daxon and I chatted with each other for a while, Both of us relaxing slowly, Calming down around the other.
I decided that whatever drug the doctors had running through me was the reason why I was so calm around the hero.
While we were talking, Ian finally woke up.
''Where?'' He muttered tiredly, Looking around in confusion before his gaze landed on me.
''Mornin' flower'' I murmured, My entire attention fully focusing on him, Daxon forgotten for a second.
''Corbin? Corbin! You're awake! How are you feeling? Do you need anything? How long have you been up??'' Ian started to ramble, Almost instantly snapping back to his hyper, Cheerful self.
I gave him a small, Tired smile.
Before I could answer him, Daxon stepped in, Gently wrapping his arms around the blonde's shoulders and steering him back to his seat, Away from where I was laying.
''Ian, Slower, Give him time to actually answer a question before you ask another one'' Daxon gently chided, His velvety yet raspy voice hiding amusement.
My slightly loopy smile grew at that, Despite the bright lights, Lack of input from my dragons and inability to move much thanks to my wound, I was actually feeling pretty good.
I felt happy and somewhat safe with these two here.
Closing my eyes, I listened as Daxon did his best to answer the questions Ian was quietly and worriedly asking.
Reaching my mind out, I could faintly hear my dragons, They were tiredly and happily muttering nonsense, Loopy thanks to my currently drugged state.
'Corbi. . .' Cali started to say before whatever else he was going to say trailed off into slurred child like speech.
Before my dragons could say more, A voice yanked me very quickly back to the present situation I was in.
''Well now, How's everything going in here?'' A warm, Lilting voice asked.
I hesitantly opened my eyes, Dreading who I knew I'd see.
Ace was standing in the doorway, Wearing scrubs and a doctor's coat, A clipboard held in his hands.
He was smiling charmingly at the two men standing beside my bed, Moving to go shake Daxon's hand.
''Has he awoken yet?'' Ace asked, Gesturing towards me as he spoke, Taking a small step away from the hero and moving closer to my injured side.
''Yes, He still is awake I think, He's just a bit. . .Loopy'' Daxon explained, Moving to stand at my other side.
''How. . .How long is he going to be stuck here?'' Ian asked as I turned my head to face my boyfriend, Mentally thanking him for asking the question I was too out of it to ask myself.
With each passing second I could feel my mental control slipping.
I just wanted to sleep, Not think.
''Well, It'll depend on how quickly he heals and weather or not there are any complications among other things'' Ace answered vaguely, Moving over to stand right beside where my head was.
''Is he. . .Supposed to be this out of it? He wasn't like this when he woke up'' Daxon questioned, Resting his hand on my forehead as he spoke.
Don't. Touch me.
''Well, I'll check the amounts he is being given, But he should be a bit out of it either way, Don't want him to be in pain after all'' Ace had the audacity to say calmly while reading something on the chart then reading something on one of the many bags.
''This is the right dosage, Nothing to worry about'' Ace assured them before moving and ushering the two men to the door.
''Now, If you don't mind, I'd like to have a few words with Mr. Dice here'' He said firmly, Closing the door before either Daxon or Ian could protest.
I slowly sat up, My whole body feeling weak and like jelly while doing so.
''You shouldn't be sitting up'' Ace chided while he reached over, Turning off the lights in the room.
''What are you doing here.'' I slowly demanded, My words soft and slightly drawn out.
The other man smiled slightly, Seeming oh so confident in himself.
As soon as he reached me, He reached out and removed my sunglasses.
I was too slow to stop him from doing so sadly.
However, I did make sure to glare at him to let him know how much I disliked all of this.
''To answer your earlier question, I work here, And you. Happen to be one of my patients'' He explained, Setting my glasses down on the small plastic table beside the bed.
''Hell no. . .You've gotta be joking.'' I grumbled, Trying to reach over for my glasses before Ace stopped me, Firmly holding onto my wrist.
''No no, I need to change your bandages, So you need to be on your side, Can't wear glasses while on your side'' He explained, Moving to place his arms under my legs and back.
I let out a small squeak before he rolled me over enough so he could undo my bandages.
Scowling, I did my best to ignore how embarrassing this was while he was undoing the bandaging.
The hospital gowns didn't leave much to the imagination after all.
''Would you like some good news?'' Ace asked, His lilting voice grating on my quickly fraying nerves.
''I doubt anything you could tell me would be good to me.'' I muttered coldly, My face burning in embarrassment.
He hummed quietly before he rebandaged my wounded side.
''Your wound isn't infected and it appears to be healing at a fairly quick pace'' He told me before readjusting me so I was laying down again.
''So you mean I can leave?'' I asked, A bit of hope in my voice, My vision was starting to go a little weird.
He paused before tilting his head slightly, A small smile on his face.
''Now what makes you think that?'' He questioned far too sweetly.
I stared at him, Knowing deep down that he was going to do something I would regret.
''You see. . .No one knows why you got hurt. . .I have an idea but I doubt you'd appreciate me just telling everyone who you are and how I believe you got that wound there, Anyways, There is debate amongst the staff about whether or not you need to be sent to the ward or not'' He continued while writing something down on the board.
''Long story short, You're most likely going to be here for a while. . .Best get comfortable'' He finished, Giving me a small smile while he spoke.
Fucking. Bullshit.
