''Do you live around here?'' Mr. Fancy man asked, Catching me off guard.

Who asks that after literally bumping into someone?

I frowned slightly, Those simple words made it even clearer that he wasn't from around here.

Most of the people around here would be swearing by now.

''Yeah. I am. Why?'' I asked, Crossing my arms slightly as a woman holding a clearly hot paper coffee cup nearly ran into me.

She shot me a death glare and flipped me off before continuing to walk away.

No one around here is a morning person. Or a people person from what I've seen growing up.

''Well, I was wondering if you could guide me to uhm. . .'' He paused and briefly pulled out his phone, Read something on it before nodding.

''To the Mossy glade hospital?'' He asked politely, Putting his phone back away.

I frowned a little deeper.

He still doesn't feel right. . . And he's polite. . .

But then again, That hospital is very good at treating those with rogue powers.

Sometimes, And this is thankfully uncommon, Powers can harm the wielder of them.

Like how my powers altered my body making me very weak to light, Some people's powers weaken them to things they can't avoid in life.

I've heard of some of them being harmed by water and others being harmed by oxygen. Fucking Oxygen.

The doctors at the Mossy glade happen to be very skilled in dealing with powered people, Some of them down in the labs even made shots that would very briefly disconnect someone from their powers.

The shot had to be given like every three hours though so it's fairly impractical.

But it had helped me when I first presented my powers.

I had the misfortune of my powers forming when I was outside. In the blazing hot and exceedingly bright afternoon sun.

My dad had rushed me to the hospital when I had fallen over suddenly, Screaming in pain and clutching at my eyes as I writhed on the ground.

Thankfully, When we got to the hospital, One of the doctors on shift there noticed the three small kitten sized things neither my dad nor I noticed.

He had given me a dosage of the power blocker as soon as he saw my little dragons squirming in pain along with me.

I had spent a month at the hospital, Heavily drugged up with the blocker at first as what was happening to me was explained to me.

After a while they had lowered the dosage so I could get used to my powers and the added changes I needed to make to my life to keep myself out of that level of pain.

I still go to that hospital to this day, It's the only one I know of that doesn't make a legal report to the government when someone with powers comes into their care.

That's gotten them in hot water with the government before but nothing could be done to the hospital seeing as they were actually in the right. . . Much to the government's annoyance.

He might have someone he cares about there. . .

''Yeah. C'mon, We'll have to take the subway there'' I grumbled out, Deciding against my better judgement to help this unsettling man.

He gave me a warm looking smile that set my nerves on edge.

''Thank you so much'' He said politely, Struggling to following behind me as I wove through the crowd.

I glanced back at him before slowing my pace slightly.

A few people nearly ran into him and instantly proceeded to flip him off.

''I see people are a little bit. . . Cranky today'' The man walking with me said, Trying to strike up a conversation with me.

''They're like this every day, You'll get used to it.'' I said simply, Trying to shut down this conversation.

He was clearly about to say something else to me when someone bumped into him.

''Ah, Apologie-'' He started to say before the man who bumped into him glared down at him.

''Watch it.'' He snarled out.

Frowning, I slowly moved between the idiot and the brute he angered.

It was very common for people to get shanked in this neighborhood. . .I had seen a small glint of light at the brute's pocket.

It could just be a phone, But I wasn't taking the chance.

''Back away.'' I growled out quietly to the man as I saw his hands were clenched into tight fists.

He narrowed his eyes at me, His hand straying to his coat, Going right for the gleam I had noticed before.

Of fucking course. It's a knife.

I wasn't surprised. . . More so disappointed. . .In the community I lived in.

''I swear if you even try to stab anyone here I will break your fucking shins.'' I growled out quietly, Staring him down in a challenge.

He glared back before seemingly getting weirded out.

He took a step back before scowling and grumbling something along the lines of 'Now I'm gonna be fucking late. Thanks a lot.'.

He stormed past us, 'Accidently' bumping his shoulder into mine enough to knock me off balance slightly.

I glared at him after stumbling slightly, Once he had disappeared into the crowd I turned back to the man I was supposed to be helping.

''Come on. If you run into someone, Don't stop to talk to them. That's a good way to get shanked'' I told him as we finally ended up making it to the subway. . . Alive thankfully.

''That's an actual concern around here?'' He asked, A note of concern in his soft velvety voice.

''Dude. That guy who bumped into you was just about to do that!'' I explained, Exasperation in my voice.

Luckily, As we finally made it to the boarding area of the subway, The train was thankfully still there.

I lead the other man onto the train, Opting for standing instead of sitting.

After a while of silence between us, He eventually spoke up again.

''I'm Ace Indigo, And you are?'' Ace asked in an attempt to be nice.

''Doesn't matter.'' I muttered.

I have no plans of meeting this guy again after dropping him off. . .

--------------------------------------------------------------------

And Ace is trying to be friendly to Corbin. . . Any guesses how Corbin's tired and slowly breaking patience is gonna last?

Anyways! Like always, have a good day/night and find a better book! - fallen
