Chapter 71
The Letter

Sirius POV

I woke up to a letter, I contemplated opening it, it could've been me getting scolded, called a blood traitor; but that would've been a waste of ink. She's already told me those words herself, plenty times. But today this letter was from someone unexpected; it broke me, and filled me with relief. It was my mother, she had informed me that my father has passed away and that he disinherited me; but I've known that for a long time. 

As I read through the letter from my mother who seemed unbothered by it all, she made sure to add in a few special words for me letting me know that father was never proud and that she'd have rather I'd died then Regulus.
And some days, I do have to agree with her.
Regulus deserves to be here, with his friends.
But I deserve to be here as well so, I did the only suitable thing.

"Incendio." I whispered while pointing my wand to the stupid letter.
And I watched the letter burn, until there was nothing left.  I wiped the tears from my cheeks, and laughed to myself. Regulus and I would've laughed at the letter making fun of mother's choice of words, how much joy we would've got from a letter that was only meant to hurt.
But in this moment, I found this letter fucking hilarious.

A knock came from the door within moments, "Y/n? Or James?" I asked knowing that Remus wouldn't have knocked, and I believe Evans is afraid the boys dorm. "It's me." Y/n replied while walking through the door, "Hey! I didn't say you could come in! What if I was naked?" I joked, "So what if you were?" She laughed. "Why are you here?" I asked curiously, "Am I interrupting?" She asked, "No, well not really." I smiled.
"Suspicious." She giggled, while walking over and laying beside me, she laid her head on my stomach while placing her hand on my chest.
This feeling, is unfamiliar.
Maybe it's cause we haven't had much downtime, or how distant we've been. I mean, our relationship is.. complicated. We've been on and off, and friends and enemies. We've been everywhere on the scale, and now I don't know where we lie. I just want her to continue to lay in my arms.

Y/n POV

I lie in silence while thoughts run throughout my head while my head lays on his chest, and I still don't know where our relationship lies.
But I hope, after this catastrophic mess, that it will be together.. again. "Bloody hell! You two need to just get together! Merlin..." James laughed while entering the room, "What if I was naked?!" Sirius protested, "Sirius. Let's be very serious right now." James said while holding in his laugh, "I've already seen you naked." James finished his sentence, "Hey hey! This isn't fair, you said we need to get together, but .. Sirius, how long did it take James to get with Evans?" I asked while laughing.

"Well first year, I'm sure he had a thing for Marlene. But, it's 7th year now.. so six years." Sirius said holding in his laughter, but failed horribly when he burst out laughing.
"Not funny." James said hiding his smile, knowing we are hilarious. A knock came to the door, and James opened the door too Lily, "Oi! Evans! We were just talking about you!" Sirius says sitting up with a smile plastered across his face.

"This is why I'm never up here, hold on." Lily says staring at Sirius and I in shock, "Merlin finally, James I believe you owe me 5 galleons?" Lily giggled punching James in the arm.
"I know," James groaned, "We had a bet on how long it'd take ya two to finally just be yourselves again. Even though you two together.. is wild." James said while looking to Lily with a smile, but under that smile you could tell how in love he is with her. "Why don't you look at me like that?" I whispered into Sirius' ear.
"You're just not watching." Sirius whispered back while putting his head on my shoulder.

"Black, we have a quidditch game to get too." James said, "Oh shit! Right." Sirius said jumping up, before he walked away he quickly turned on his heel looking towards me "You'll be there?" He asked, but it sounded as more of a demand.
"Of course." I smiled, and leaned to make eye contact with Lily, she gave a slight nod.

Lily and I walked down to the quidditch pitch together, I wore Sirius's quidditch sweater not caring what the Slytherins thought, and Lily wore one of James practice jerseys.
We looked through the stands as we sat down looking for Remus to catch him on the mic.
"Bloody hell." I said beneath my breath, "Merlin!" Lily said right after me.

"This is gonna be fucking hilarious!" I laughed, "Merlin! This is going to be a horrible! The mic will be taken away within minutes." Lily giggled.
"Well I don't know, and don't care much for quidditch. But, here it goes." Remus said sounding as bored as ever. "Now as the winning team comes through..." Remus began before getting hit in the back of the head by Mcgonagall, "Gryffindor, winning team same thing." Remus "corrected" himself. "Now as my least favourite house chases after the.. OUCH." Remus winced while Mcgonagall hit him again, "That wasn't towards you y/n....! I meant Slytherin alrighty.." Remus smiled. After he said my name I watched him mouth Regulus' name.
Of course cause Reg and I are the best Slytherins there are.

"James has the.. what's it called again?" Remus asks, "Quaffle?" Mcgonagall says obviously regretting allowing him the mic.
"Aha Prongs.. James! Has the quaffle.. oh .. oh and he scores because Slytherins keeper sucks! Remus said with a huge smiled while winking at the keeper from Slytherin. "OWW!" Remus wined while Mcgonagall pulled his hair.

"Oh.. oh Gryffindors amazing, spectacular, show stopping seeker has spotted the .. snitch!" Remus said struggling with the quidditch terms.
"You'd think cause Potter never shuts up i'd know more," Remus laughed.. "Oh, Minnie has informed me I forgot to tell the score.. I thought it was obvious we were winning."
"10- 0 Gryffindor!" Remus smiled.

"Oh Sirius blocks another shot from Slytherin. Man you have terrible aim my guy," Remus chuckles. "That is enough Mr Lupin!" Mcgonagall says hiding a small smile, "I'll take over." Mcgonagall insists. But before Remus was finished he yelled a quick "Go Gryffindor!" And began to leave the stand and came to sit by Lily and I.

"He stayed longer than I thought." I laughed, "I thought Mcgonagall would've taken over way sooner. Or not even let Remus at all." Lily suggested. "Surprised he didn't get detention, or some house points taken away?" I posed and Lily just sighed in relief. "Remus! That was hilarious!" Lily smiled, and within that moment gryffindor caught the snitch, I watched smiles go across everyone in Gryffindor's faces while Slytherins frowned for the loss.

Before we knew Sirius and James made their way over, "Moony that was amazing!" James said out of breath, "I agree, fucking hilarious." Sirius smiled while I caught him staring at me.
"Let's all meet in the common room alright?" Sirius said looking to James, "Yeah, we need to shower if we want those two to hang out with us." James smiled while pointing to Lily and I.
"Hey I'm not hanging out with you either if you smell." Remus protested, but Sirius and James were already on there way to the showers.
