the weeks seemed to be going by quickly, and the next thing marina knew, there was snow on the ground and christmas was right around the corner.

it was the day before a hogsmeade weekend, and marina was sitting outside on a wooden bench, buried under her coat and scarf, her hair falling in front of her face.

she was writing in the book that she had found in the library a couple of months previous. the person had responded, and they had been writing back in forth. this is what the blank page looked like now.

are werewolves really monsters?

no. fear the werewolf, not the person.

really? who taught you that?

my parents. we are very pro-werewolf

pro-werewolf? you should make that a club

i wish

who are you?

you'll have to find out. i'm a girl, though.

really? are we seriously about to play a guessing game?

you don't have to guess

whatever. i'm a boy. can i call you moon?

why would you call me moon?

werewolf? moon? get it?

i get it. dork.

you're so funny.

marina was writing back now. she liked the name moon. and the fact that she was talking to a boy, which is definitely not a normal thing.

she was busy writing her reply, when a snowball slammed into the side of her head, sending her hat askew.

"holy shit!"

she looked in the direction where the snowball came from and saw a girl with flaming red hair running up to her.

"i'm so sorry!" she said, once she reached marina. "oh, it's fine." marina said, brushing the snow out of her hair and fixing her hat.

"me and my friends are having a snowball fight, and marlene ducked, and, and, and you were just, you were just there!" the girl stammered out. behind her, another girl came out, this one with dark skin and tight brown curls in her hair.

"you're freaking the poor girl out!" she said, looking at the redhead. "what lily is trying to say, is that she is sorry she hit you, she was aiming for our friend."

marina nodded. "it's fine, only snow." she said. "want to join our fight?" the redhead, lily, asked. marina thought about it. "i suppose." she said.

the girl with curly hair grabbed marina's hand and pulled her up. "i'm dorcas meadows, what about you?" she asked. "marina phoenix." she said, feeling awkward. "i'm lily evans." the redhead said.

"you're in hufflepuff, right?" dorcas asked. marina nodded. "we are all in gryffindor." lily explained. they reached their friends and they came over there were three of them.

there was a girl with brown curly hair and dark skin, a girl with brown hair and bangs, her skin pale, and a girl with short blonde hair and a very white teeth.

"who are you?" the girl with curly hair asked. "marina phoenix. i invited her, so be nice." dorcas said. marina smiled awkwardly at everyone.

"i'm alice! alice fortescue!" the girl with bangs said, waving and smiling nicely at marina, who waved back. "mary macdonald." the girl with curly hair said, putting her hand out for marina to shake, which she did. the blonde girl smiled and said, "marlene mckinnon, the one and only."

"now we can be even with the teams!" lily said. "me, marlene, and alice on one team, you guys on the rest." mary said, grabbing alice and marlene and pulling them away.

"let's do this." lily said. her and dorcas grabbed a bunch of snow, so marina did the same. "on the count of three!" marlene yelled from across the courtyard.

"one!"

why did marina agree to do this?

"two!"

what if they were friends with remus and his friends?

"three!"

how is everyone today?
