remus found it very hard to focus when marina was sitting in front of him.

he would try and listen to professor merrythought, but every time marina would shift in her seat or write something down, he would look at her until peter nudged him to pay attention.

over the summer, he realized that the intense feeling for marina in his stomach wasn't going away, but he desperately needed it to.

he confided to his neighbor, who was only a year younger than him about it, leaving out the fact that she was a witch, of course. his neighbor said that it was probably just a small crush, and all he had to do was wait it out.

so here remus was. waiting out his small crush on marina.

"dude, stop staring." peter whispered. remus internally scolded himself for letting him get distracted again, and focused back on the professor, who was now explaining her expectations for the term.

"does anyone have any questions?" she asked, looking around the room hopefully. marina raised her hand. damn it.

"miss phoenix?" professor merrythought said, pointing to marina. "the letter we got informed us we would be given an extra textbook?" she asked. the rest of the class nodded. professor merrythought sighed.

"right, right, i'm still waiting on those, but i promise you will have them by next class." she said, though remus was no longer listening.

everyone stood up and remus stood up as well, though he was rather confused onto why. "class is over, mate." peter sighed, causing remus to snap back into reality.

"right, right. don't wait up." remus said, grabbing his stuff. marina was walking out of the room and he quickly fell in place next to her.

"oh, hey lupin." she said casually, adjusting the strap of her bag. "where are you off to?" he asked. "i have alchemy." marina said promptly. "what about you?"

"herbology with slytherins." remus said rather sourly. "ooh, say hi to stella for me!" she said cheerfully. "this is my stop, but i'll catch up with you later, yeah?" she said, stopping by a staircase. "yeah, see you." he muttered, but she was already gone.

the rest of the classes went by smoothly, other than james and snape almost hexing one another into oblivion in herbology, which would have happened if lily and remus hadn't stepped in.

dinner had finally arrived, and remus was late, but pleased by the sight of marina, hayden, laura, and amelia sitting with them at the gryffindor table.

"good evening." he sighed as he sat between marina and peter. "hello!" marina said cheerfully, eating a piece of bread. remus immediately felt butterflies in his stomach, but ignored them.

"how was the rest of your classes?" he asked everyone, but looked at marina. "they were alright." she sighed, before turning around to talk to james.

sirius noticed the look on remus' face and said, very loudly, "you know, remus, i think we should find you a girlfriend."

remus, who had just taken a sip of his pumpkin juice, stopped drinking and slowly put the cup down, shaking his head as their friends all stopped talking and looked over to them.

"moony, who would you like to date?" sirius asked, putting his arms on the table and resting his chin in his hands.

"nobody, sirius." remus said, his eyes begging for his best friend to shut the hell up. sirius clearly didn't get that.

"are you sure? because last night you-" he started, but james shoved him to the floor, so he stopped talking.

"i'm hungry, let's just eat." james said as sirius pulled himself off the ground.
