"marina! hurry up! you'll miss the train!" elle phoenix yelled to her daughter from the bottom of the stairs. "we really can't be late, marina!" jameson phoenix, elle's husband, yelled as he rushed past the staircase, tightening his tie for work.

marina phoenix, who had gotten distracted by the book she was reading, hopped off her bed, tossed the book in her backpack, slammed her trunk shut, and ran out of her bedroom.

marina looked slightly different then she had when summer began. her blonde hair was slightly blonder and longer, her blue eyes lighter, and there were more freckles scattering her face.

her face had thinned out, leaving a sharp jawline, but, to her disappointment, she had not grown taller.

"finally!" her mother gasped as she emerged from her bedroom. "sorry! sorry! i was reading!" marina admitted sheepishly as she raced down the steps.

"i'm glad you're reading, but we are on a tight schedule!" elle said, patting marina on the back as she passed by. marina winked.

"give me your trunk, grab a pastry, and get in the car." jameson said, grabbing marina's trunk. he tried to grab marina's backpack, but marina stepped back and stuck her tongue out, so jameson just laughed and went to their car.

she quickly went to the kitchen, grabbed a pastry, and ran out of the house, her mouth full and her smile wide.

"what's even in the backpack?" elle asked as marina hopped into the car. "letters, books, stuff like that." marina said, opening up the backpack.

there were letters from her best friend, stella virgo, dorm mates, lily evans, and the marauders.

marina and her dorm mates had been exchanging all summer, her and lily had had a few conversations, and the marauders rarely sent her letters, but it was always interesting when she got one; they always seemed to have something to say.

marina pulled her book out and flipped it open, ignoring her parents as they talked to one another about all the work they had to do when they went in today.

over the summer, marina had found a new love for romance novels. she read about many types of love, unrequited love, forbidden love, tragical romances, all of it.

right now, she was reading about a boy and a girl who hated one another, but were slowly realizing the hatred they had bottled up for each other, was not hatred. it was love. marina liked those kind of stories.

only thirty minutes later, the phoenix family was pulling into kings cross station.

marina put her book in her bag and zipped it up, before hopping out of the car, looking at the train station with such hope for the next term.

"marina! come on!" elle called. her father was holding her trunk and they were already making their way to the front of the station. "i'm coming, i'm coming!" she called, taking off into a run.

the family made their way through the train station, marina being amazed by everything, though this was now her sixth year going to kings cross.

they finally reached platform 9 3/4, and jameson and elle grabbed onto marina's shoulders, and they all ran through the wall, marina squeezing her eyes shut as though she expected to slam into the wall.

the loud sound of a train and many voices forced marina to open her eyes, and the smile on her face just grew wider once she saw the magnificent red and black train, labeled the hogwarts express.

"well, this is it, angel." jameson sighed, setting the trunk down next to her and engulfing his daughter into a hug.

"please stay out of trouble." elle said, also joining the hug. "i'll be fine, guys!" marina laughed as they released her.

"stay stuff, we love you." elle said as marina picked up her trunk. "love you guys! bye!" she said, before turning on her heel and running off into the crowd, her parents watching her until they could no longer see her.

marina scanned everyone's faces, not sure who she was exactly looking for, but was excited to find someone nonetheless.

"marina!"

marina turned around to see stella virgo running at her at full speed. marina dropped her trunk just in time for stella to completely tackler her into a hug.

"i've missed you so much!" marina gasped, holding her best friend tightly. "i've missed you more!" stella responded.

the two girls released each other, and marina picked her trunk back up. "have you seen regulus anywhere, by any chance?" stella asked, her cheeks going slightly pink. marina smirked.

"no, i haven't. is there any particular reason you're looking for him?" she asked, giving stella a knowing look. "we're friends!" stella said defensively.

marina was about to respond, but stella must have seen someone she knew, for she gasped and ran away.

marina laughed to herself, before making her way inside of the train, looking for her friends. she finally found amelia bones sitting in one of them, and quickly pushed the door open and heaved her trunk inside.

"marina!" amelia gasped, standing up and hugging the blonde girl in front of her. "amelia!" marina squealed happily.

she shoved her trunk under a seat and sat down across from where amelia was sitting. amelia had gotten taller over the summer, and was now taller than she.

"how was your summer?" marina asked her, smoothing out the blue dress she was wearing. "it was mediocre." amelia sighed. "went to scotland for a couple of days, but mum and dad didn't want to do much."

the door suddenly slid back open, and hayden eliz and laura ryann jumped in. "amelia! marina!" hayden gasped, tackling marina into a hug while laura did the same to amelia.

after the two girls settled down and sat down, they all began talking about their summers.

"man, it's good to be back." laura sighed as the train began to move.
