the next day, marina was walking with stella, regulus, and severus to the library, regulus and severus slapping each other shoulders, stella and marina watching them in amusement.
"okay, quit it you two." stella said finally, breaking the boys up. the four entered the library and quickly found a table to put their mountain of books on, including the one with the mystery boy.
"o.w.l's are just around the corner." stella sighed, shaking her head as she disappeared behind a book. "that must suck for you three." regulus said, a smug smile growing on his face.
"shove off." stella growled, shoving his shoulder away. "you know you love me." he responded, winking dramatically. severus made a retching noise, making marina snort.
regulus and severus soon disappeared behind a book as well, and marina carefully opened the astronomy book. the one she was writing in.
the last entry had been a couple of weeks ago, as marina had honestly forgotten about it. it read:
there is too much drama in this school.
"no kidding." marina thought to herself as she pulled out her ink and quill quietly, keeping her eyes on her friends.
she quickly dipped the quill and ink and very quietly wrote,
i agree. there's so much drama in my life, i can't even think.
"are you writing in a library book?"
marina snapped her head up and saw severus looking at her, his eyebrows raised in suspicion. "no, this is a book from home." marina lied, trying to make her voice sound as believable as possible.
severus glanced down at the book, which marina moved away from him, and shrugged, before returning to his own book.

☾☾☾☾ the next hour was spent in silence, the three slytherins and the hufflepuff all studying different subjects as they tried to prepare themselves for the exams that were becoming closer and closer.
marina heard the door to the library open and shut again, and didn't think anything of it. that was until she heard james potter's voice.
"oi! snivellus!" he said as he came up behind him. marina saw three people behind him, and groaned internally as she realized the whole boy band was there.
"go away, potter." severus said tonelessly, not bothering to even look away from his book. james and sirius let out a loud laugh, while remus and peter stayed quiet. remus actually seemed to be staring at marina, who was pretending not to notice.
"marina! my friend! what are you doing here?" sirius asked, waltzing over to her and slinging an arm around her shoulder as he bent down. "studying," marina responded, standing up to get out of his grasp.
"ouch." sirius said sarcastically, putting a hand to his heart like marina had just severely wounded him.
"we are trying to study for exams, so if you boys could leave, that would be nice." stella said, slamming her book onto the table and giving the marauders a sickeningly sweet smile that didn't reach the anger in her eyes.
"why study? shouldn't you know everything already? that's why we go to classes." james said, crossing his arms across his chest. "now you just sound like an idiot." regulus snapped.
sirius looked down at his brother, seeming as though he was about to say something, but then went against it and looked at stella.
"maybe you should just pay attention in class." he said, squinting his eyes. regulus stood up, but stella shot him a look and he slowly sat back down, death glaring his older brother.
"we don't want any trouble, okay? we just want to study." marina said calming, finally meeting remus' eyes, who quickly looked away at james.
"let's get out of here." remus said. james and sirius were about to interject, but remus nodded his head towards marina, and they all stalked off.
"i must say, i'm very glad lupin is infatuated with you, marina, otherwise they may not have left us alone." severus said. marina looked down at him, flabbergasted.
"lupin is not infatuated with me!" she said hotly, sitting back down in her chair. stella laughed.
"yes, and i'm not the best slytherin!" she said, regulus and severus threw their books at her.
