the next day on the way to the great hall for breakfast, laura, hayden, and amelia talked marina's ears off about remus.

"what do you think is going to happen?" amelia was asking. marina shrugged. "maybe they won't even sit with us." she sighed. hayden shook her head. "peter told me that they would be sitting at the hufflepuff table." she informed them.

marina didn't know what to think. the kiss almost felt like a fever dream. what would happen between them? would remus ask her out? would she ask him out? she had no idea.

the four girls walked into the great hall and marina's eyes immediatly met remus', who gave her a shy smile, which she returned. this was going to be a weird day.

marina was very thankful that they didn't have classes that day. the great hall was less packed and she wouldn't have to worry about catching up on what she had missed when she was home.

they sat down and marina quickly looked back and saw the marauders leaving their table. this would be interesting. "great, here comes the love interests." amelia muttered. "i'm so glad i don't fancy a marauder."

marina stared at the table until she felt a chin on her head. "hello." he said softly. "hi," she said, smiling. "i'm a huge fan of whatever this is." sirius sighed as he slung an arm around laura.

"well, i'm a huge fan of whatever that is." marina said, pointing at the two. "yeah, what even are you?" hayden asked. amelia nodded.

"well, we aren't dating." laura said. marina rolled her eyes. of course laura was playing hard to get. "not yet," sirius whispered.

"but, let's talk about you two." sirius said, looking at remus and marina. "we all know what happened last night." james said slyly. marina could feel her cheeks heating up.

"marina!"

remus removed his chin so marina could look behind her and saw stella running across the great hall. "excuse me." she said, before standing up and running to meet stella.

"you're back! thank god you're back!" she said happily, hugging her best friend. "i'm back!" marina said, hugging stella back tightly. "i won't be stuck with the idiots anymore!" she said happily, releasing marina.

"we are right here!" regulus exclaimed as him and severus came up behind the two. "marina!" regulus added, giving marina a hug. "regulus!" she said, hugging the boy back in surprise.

he released her and marina glanced at severus. "do i have to hug you now?" he asked, shoving his hands in his pockets. the three others nodded, so severus sighed and hugged marina.

"fair warning, the marauders are glaring. well, remus isn't." stella said, glancing over. marina turned around and sirius, james, and peter all looked down to the table. but remus just raised his eyebrows, glancing from her to severus to regulus. she shook her head and winked before turning around.

after breakfast, marina separated her friends and went to the courtyard. the air was beginning to get cold, but not unbearable, and marina was wearing a thick black sweater with a brown skirt and tights, so it should be fine.

she found a spot near a tree and sat down, pulling out some homework professor sprout had given her at breakfast so she could catch up.

marina was only halfway through when she felt someone sit next to her.

"hello, marina." remus said, stretching his legs out. marina smiled lightly before looking up at him. "hello, remus." she said kindly.

"what are you doing?" he asked, glancing down at her paper. "herbology homework," she sighed, setting her quill down on top of the parchment.

"what are you reading?" she asked, noticing him holding a book. "a book of poetry." he sighed. the book was quite large, and he seemed to notice marina saw that.

"it's big, it's like it never ends." he said. "like a never ending story?" marina asked. "exactly!" remus said, pointing at her. marina giggled.

"so...are we going to talk about the elephant in the room?" marina asked. remus raised his eyebrows, obviously confused. "are we going to talk about what happened last night?" marina simplified. "ah," remus said.

"we like each other, obviously." he said. marina nodded. "i kissed you, you clearly didn't mind that." he added. marina scoffed.

"you know, one of these poems remind me of you." he said, opening up the book. he was trying to change the subject, and marina didn't have the heart to call him out on it.

"this page." he said, handing her the book. it was small poem on a large page. marina put her stuff down onto the grass and held the book.

you are
the peace after wars
the call after storms
and everything
insanely beautiful
that shaped after
a tragedy

marina felt herself blushing but just handed the book back to remus. "thanks, i think." she said. he chuckled lightly.

"anyways, i have a question for you." he said. considering he had already changed the subject once, marina had no idea what he was going to ask.

"there's a hogsmeades trip next weekend." he said. marina had completely forgotten about it.

"want to...i don't know...maybe go on a date?" he asked. marina noticed his fingers crossed but decided not to comment on it.

"sure, i'd love to." she said, smiling at him. he smiled back at her. "cool, that's cool." he said, picking up his book again.

the two sat there until lunch, remus reading his book and marina doing her homework. every now and then remus would glance up and look at marina, before turning away so she didn't notice.

marina was doing that as well.

merry christmas to everyone who celebrates !!
