marina rode with laura, hayden, and amelia to hogsmeade. she would have ridden with remus but charity was staring her down, and marina didn't fancy having a bruise during her date, so she just told him she would see him there.
"marina, you have to tell us everything after your date." laura said as the carriage began to slow down. "don't worry, i will. i just hope everything goes well," marina said. her nerves were shooting through the roof right now, but she just pretended like everything was fine.
they came to a complete stop and hayden hopped out of the carriage, followed by amelia. "i see sirius and remus!" hayden said excitedly to laura and marina, who glanced wearily at one another.
"ladies first," laura muttered, so marina took a deep breath and hopped out the carriage, cringing as the cold air hit her skin; she didn't expect this weather and regretted not bringing a jacket.
"hey, marina."
marina turned around and saw remus standing next to their carriage. he was wearing a gray jumper and jeans with a small rip in both knees. he was also wearing a black jacket, that marina immediately got jealous of.
"oh, hey, remus." she said casually. she turned around once more and waved her friends goodbye before the two of the began walking away.
"so, where do you want to go first?" he asked, shoving his hands into his pocket. "maybe honeyduke's?" marina suggested, shrugging.
the two made their way to honeyduke's and squeezed inside, as it seemed the entirety of hogwarts was in there.
"do you ever feel bad for the people just wanting to shop at hogsmeade?" remus asked as they walked down an isle. "they're just trying to shop and there's a bunch of teenagers barging in."
"i mean, i guess, but it's not like we're here everyday." marina sighed, looking around. "do you want a chocolate frog? or peppermint imps? you bought them last time." remus asked, picking some up. marina looked as him suspiciously.
"we haven't been to honeyduke's together since fifth year..." she said slowly. remus turned red and shrugged. "i have a good memory." he muttered. marina laughed lightly.
"well, i'm okay. felix gave me a supply pretty recently." marina sighed. remus clenched his jaw but just nodded. "thanks, though."
"so...i have a...weird question." remus said as the two walked out of the small shop. "it's about laura."
"how the hell is she in hufflepuff?" he asked. marina bursted out laughing. "i think everyone has asked that. even laura." she said.
"actually, in first year we asked professor dumbledor. he said it was because of how trustworthy she is. which, is true, you can always count on laura to be there for you." marina explained. remus nodded. "she just gives me...not a hufflepuff." he said. marina nodded in agreement.
for the next hour and a half, the two walked in and out of shops, joking around and talking. marina couldn't deny that she was having the best time she had had in a while, and remus was thinking the same.
they decided to go to the three broomsticks when the cold was too much for the both of them to bare, even though remus had given marina her jacket.
"a table for two, please." remus sighed as marina looked around. she saw sirius and laura in a deep conversation, and elbowed remus. "look at the two lovebirds over there." she whispered as remus glanced over. "i'm surprised they aren't eating each others faces." he mumbled.
they were given a spot and ordered two butterbeers. "in all honesty, how has today been?" remus asked as they waited for their drinks.
"in all honesty? pretty bloody good." marina said truthfully. remus smiled widely. "we should definitely do this again." he sighed, and marina nodded eagerly.
they were given their drinks and marina took a deep sip of it, feeling the foamy, hot liquid go down her throat.
marina glanced back at remus, who was staring at her with a slight smile on his face. "what?" she asked, subconsciously wiping her mouth in case she had butterbeer on it.
"nothing, you just look really pretty in my jacket." he said softly, making marina turn a bright shade of pink and remus gasped dramatically.
"did i get the hardcore, badass marina phoenix to blush?" he asked, putting his hand to his heart as though she hadn't blushed multiple times in front of him. marina scoffed and rolled her eyes.
"it's just cold." she said, crossing her arms in front of her chest and raising her eyebrows playfully. remus picked up a napkin and threw it at her, which she slapped away.
after they finished their drinks, they were back out in the cold. marina was walking near remus to get body heat, and just because she wanted to, and remus did not mind one bit.
the day was finally coming to an end, so remus slipped his finger in between marina's and marina held his hand back. she could feel her cheeks start to turn red again so she looked away.
that's when they heard yelling. it was hayden's voice, near the carriages.
the two let go of one another and took off into a run. when they got there they saw peter, sirius, and james facing hayden, laura, and amelia. hayden was screaming at peter.
"you tell me you are god damn tutoring! tutoring! when you've been kissing with some bitch! last week you told me you loved me! what is wrong with you?" hayden screamed.
remus and marina glanced at one another in pure shock. peter was cheating on hayden?
"i didn't do anything!" peter yelled back, thrusting his hands down in rage. "i have a picture that says otherwise, peter!" hayden shouted back. marina quickly left remus' side and rushed over to hayden, where laura showed her a picture of peter and a ravenclaw girls snogging.
marina was in pure shock.
"hayden, sorry for interrupting this, but why would peter cheat on you and not tell us?" sirius asked calmly. "hey, black, this is not your place!" hayden hissed, turning to him.
"hayden, you have to believe me! why don't you trust me?" peter asked, taking a step towards her. "i did trust you! until i got picture proof!" hayden exclaimed. peter looked as though he was about to speak again but hayden just turned around and ran away.
the three others girls quickly rushed after the hayden as she jumped into a carriage, crying hysterically, but marina and laura saw all they needed to see.
remus and sirius were hugging peter. they felt bad for peter.
"i'm never talking to that bitch again." laura muttered, looking out the window sadly. marina nodded in agreement, though she really did not want too.
she glanced down and realized she was still wearing remus' jacket.
