marina felt like she had been punched in the stomach.

remus and charity hadn't noticed her, and she quickly turned on her heel and walked back to the castle, shaking her head.

why did she feel this way? unless...

no! absolutely no way! there was no way marina amybeth phoenix would fancy remus john lupin. absolutely no way.

but the more she thought about it, the more it made sense. she got so happy when she saw him, she loved hanging out with him, hell, she even became friends with his friends just so she could be around him more.

holy shit. holy shit. holy shit.

marina liked remus. fuck.

once she got into the building she leaned against the cold stone walls, gently closing her eyes
and taking deep breaths.

remus, the boy who has tormented her for the past five years.

remus, the boy who poured water on her only months previous.

remus, the boy who did that awful thing in the astronomy tower.

"marina!"

she quickly stood up straight as she saw her friends and the marauders, minus remus, walking towards her.

"oh, hello." she said awkwardly, tucking a loose piece of hair behind her ear. "so, were they all in their dormitory?" lily asked. marina internally groaned as she remembered the reason she went out there in the first place.

"oh, sorry lils, i couldn't find him." she told her, her voice raspy. "are you okay?" hayden asked,
walking over and putting her hand on marina's
forehead.

"i'm fine, i'm fine." she said, shooing hayden away. "i think i'm just going to, erm, head up to the dormitory. i'll see you guys later."

marina quickly walked past them, causing all of them to stare at her and give each other odd glances.

"what was that about?" sirius asked. "shut up, black." laura snapped, grabbing hayden and amelia and pulling them along to follow marina.

laura pushed open the girls dormitory door to find marina lying on her bed, her covers pulled over her body completely.

"marina?" hayden asked as they hesitantly walked over to her bed. marina gave a groan to let them know she was alive.

"you okay?" amelia asked, sitting on the edge of her bed. "no." marina responded, slowly coming out of the covers. she didn't seem to be crying, but it was obvious she had shed a couple of tears.

"did something happen?" laura asked, sitting down next to amelia. marina shrugged. "you guys will laugh at me." she mumbled. "we're your friends, we won't laugh." hayden said, rubbing marina's shoulder soothingly.

"i think i may like remus?" she said. it was more of a question, not a statement. the girls all gasped, amelia falling off the bed from
laura bouncing up and down.

"i knew it! i knew it!" hayden yelled. "i did too!" laura shouted back, standing up and thrusting her fits into the air.

"wait, why are you so upset about that?" amelia asked as she grabbed laura's arm and pulled herself back up.

marina took a deep breath and told them all about how she had seen remus and charity kissing in the courtyard.

"that little bitch." hayden said, shaking her head. "that's ridiculous. utterly ridiculous." amelia groaned, rubbing her forehead. "i'm literally going to kill that bitch!" laura said, attempting to grab her wand out of her pocket, but, amelia grabbed her arm to prevent her from doing so.

"i mean, it's not like we were dating, but it still hurt, you know?" marina sighed, tossing her duvet off and standing up.

"but i thought he liked you!" hayden said, looking dumbfounded. "yeah, i could have sworn he was madly in love with you." laura added.

"well, clearly not." marina said, rubbing her eyes. "can i please kill him?" laura begged. "not yet." marina said. "it's not a never. i'll take it."

then charity walked in.

they all turned their heads towards her, laura's
eyes dangerously narrowing.

"did i do something?" charity asked once she saw everyone's faces. "so, how long have you and remus been together?" hayden asked, crossing her arms in front of her chest and glaring at her.

charity's eyes widened and her face dropped. "i have no idea what you're talking about." she said, fiddling with her fingers.

"oh, you don't?" laura asked, taking a step towards her. "i saw you two kissing in the courtyard." marina snapped.

charity looked down. "we aren't together, okay?" she said. "it sure fucking looked like it!" laura practically yelled, charity shrinking back at her loudness.

"it was just a kiss." charity said in a small voice. she looked up and they all noticed her eyes were glossy, but didn't say anything.

"just a kiss? the way marina described it, it sounded like you guys were about to make kids!" laura said. charity's face turned a bright red.

"listen, it was just the heat of the moment! he told me not to bring it up again!" charity desperately explained. "why do you guys even care?"

"because as one of his friends, i'm a little hurt he didn't tell me anything!" marina lied, tightening her fists into a ball. she didn't like lying, but sometimes, it was necessary.

"okay, okay, i know. but, you three have got to believe me when i say it was just a kiss! we both agreed to remain friends!" charity said.

laura opened her mouth to say something, but before she got the chance charity stormed out, slamming the door behind her.

"what a bitch." laura muttered.
