the first hour of the ball was amazing.
right when marina, laura, hayden, and amelia walked in, peter rushed over and handed hayden a bunch of flowers, telling her how beautiful she is.
then he turned to amelia, laura, and marina and gave them both a rose. "hayden told me you didn't have dates." he had said, before him and hayden walked off together. "he's a good kid." laura sighed.
the three had danced a lot, enjoying the music that seemed to come from all around them.
after an hour, they decided to go sit down and grab some food from the house elf's that were wondering around.
as they ate, they talked about how beautiful everything was, and how cute hayden and peter were, for they could see them dancing together from where they were sitting. he had twirled her around and dipped her, and laura kept on making fake retching noises, but marina knew she thought it was adorable.
as they were standing up, lily, marlene, mary, dorcas, and alice came rushing over to the girls. they all looked amazing, to nobody's surprise.
"you look fabulous!" lily sang as she approached the girls. "oh, i don't believe we met!" she said, noticing amelia, who had shrunken behind marina. "lily evans." she said perkily, sticking out her hand. "amelia bones." she said timidly.
"can amelia stay the night with us as well?" laura asked. "of course!" marlene said, flashing amelia a smile. amelia blushed red and smiled back.
"marina, i'm in love with your dress!" alice said, picking up the lower part of marina's dress and examining it. "thank you!" marina said happily.
that's when james potter walked over and attempted to put his arm around lily, but lily must have noticed so she ducked out of the way.
"hello, evans." he said, completely ignoring the fact he had just been rejected. lily ignored him, and turned to marina.
"oh, come on lils, don't be like that!" sirius said, who had walked up to james. "you know you're in love with him!"
"i would never be in love with someone like that." lily hissed, glaring directly at james, who shrunk back.
"come on," james whined. "oh, stop being a crybaby." mary snapped. james rolled his eyes. "you guys are acting like i don't do this everyday." he said. "it gets quite annoying." lily said, crossing her arms in front of her chest.
"you say that everyday too." remus, who had apparently just realized his friends were here, muttered. "shush lupin." lily said, but she seemed to be hiding her smile.
hayden and peter had seen what was going on, and walked over. hayden took one look at remus, and walked over to marina, wrapping her and around marina's.
"is he being a bitch?" hayden whispered. "i don't even think they realize i'm here." marina whispered back.
she spoke too soon.
"oh, i didn't see the hufflepuffs!" sirius said, turning to them. "of course you didn't." james said. "they aren't noticeable when it comes to winning the house cup either."
"oh i will stick this heel so far up your ass, potter!" laura said. hayden and marina quickly grabbed her shoulders as she began walking up. "let me do it!" she complained. "not while there are professors here. maybe later." amelia said soothingly.
"like you would have the nerve to do something like that!" sirius spat. "don't test me, black!" laura said. he looked down at his feet. "bastard." she muttered.
"weren't you just telling me about how you thought sirius-" amelia started, but laura elbowed her in the rib and she stopped. "okay, okay, enough." remus said.
"quiet, moony!" james said. "what kind of nickname is moony?" marina asked. james rolled his eyes and remus turned a brilliant shade of red. "he's just interested in astronomy." sirius said quickly.
"like you." james said, staring at marina. marina thought back to the night of the astronomy tower. "shut up." she said, gritting her teeth and clenching her fists together.
"woah, touched a nerve." remus said. "shut up, moony." laura said sarcastically. "okay, everyone just calm down." hayden said. "we are here to have fun! can't we just do that!"
"you sound like every main character in a movie." laura said. hayden snorted, but quickly covered her mouth. "i'm going to get some water." she said. "i'll come with!" peter said, and they quickly walked off together.
"you know, i'm feeling rather thirsty as well." lily said. "us too." marina said. all the girls walked off, leaving sirius, remus, and james there.
